Safari Snorkel confirms snorkel for 4th-gen coming

Yes I just did mine last weekend and it came out great, very happy with the results! [MENTION=112248]cpark_12[/MENTION] did his first and I followed his lead. This one fits and looks much better IMO then other aftermarket ones I have seen others do in the past. It actually looks almost like it was made for our 4runners in following the body lines etc and lines up almost perfect with the intake hole in the engine bay.

thats one thing i was looking at, the snorkle head (i guess you can call it that) sits over the vehicle. from what i remember on my friends 2 land cruisers, they sat lower and went with the roof line.

Yea...the snorkel head does sit above the roof line of the 4Runner. I've cut mine down about 1.5" to lower it. I still may cut it down a little more, but only another inch tops. Right now mine sits lower than the roof rack so it doesn't look crazy high.

Yeah it does look a little crooked now looking at the picture above. I'm not with my truck right now, I'll have to check it this weekend. I was rushing a bit towards the end of the instal so there's a good chance I didn't sit it one there level. I will probably end up cutting mine down a little as well.
Looks good overall though. Might take a little coaxing to make a better fit, but still better than waiting for an official released version.

I have run it through an automatic one a few times. I turn the head backwards when I do just so water isn't forced in it

I've read mixed thoughts on that subject. I know threre is supposed to be some type drain system to keep rain from getting down to the air box. I did about a 1400 mile trip with pretty heavy rain 90% of it and I checked my air box about halfway through the trip and it was completely dry! I just turn it backwards during the carwash because of the force of the water hitting it.

The pic on ebay looks like you might be able to remove the fender side part with the 6 screw in the pic.
Seems like that would be nice to do to get a good flat fit with the fender tube out of the way. Before cutting that is.
Do you recall whether it is removable?
