My new mod!!!
Thanks so much Andrew aka "adio3x". Got the mod done and it was not that bad at all. Bought the grille from Andrew done and ready to install. Got it on this morning and am very pleased. Already had someone at the service station walking around my vehicle and asking me "What is that?" in a good way of course.

Toyota emblem
The mods look great! Definitley a "favorite" saved under "pending projects". Maybe one day once I have completed some of my other projects.
Working on blacking out chrome and made one huge error
and now looking for a front toyo grill emblem. (Live and learn...)
If anyone has their front grill chrome toyota emblem(s) laying around and would be willing to sell - I would like, "need", to buy...and would be eternally grateful!

Thanks Shawn. I have decided to keep my factory grille just in case I ever needed it or want to go back stock. I am sure some others can hook you up on the emblem or head you in the right direction.The mods look great! Definitley a "favorite" saved under "pending projects". Great pics - looks awesome. I just finished my upper grill mod this past weekend as well. I went with the grill-craft inserts. Looks awesome so far.
However, I did run into problems trying to removing the lower grill. I have a '12 TE and I cant seem to figure out how to get the lower grill removed by pulling out as I feel the Trail bumper trim is in the way of the lower grill preventing it from popping out towards me or forward.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need to remove the Trail bumper trim or drop the whole bumper? Should I try again but this time push the lower grill in towards the truck as opposed to out towards me?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Anyone in the san diego area who has experience installing retrofitted Headlamps and the satoshi grill going to be around in August? I'm set to be back from deployment around that time possibly late july and have a kid due around the same point and will be slammed!
Would like to get these mods put on as quick and painless as possible and although i would love to experiment and do it myself if anyone here who has done them before could assist to make it painless and fast i would greatly appreciate it!

doing my satoshi right now and I have a question regarding the grill. are you guys cutting the grill to match exactly the black frame? or are you leaving some on the sides and the top?

I found this write up a little hard to follow and had to kinda figure things out as I go..lol For those of you who are a little confused as to where to make the cuts on the mesh, here are some photos. This satoshi was fairly easy compared to the tacoma satoshi. can be done in about 3-4 hours with couple of breaks 
I used a dremel to cut the plastic and file it down to a desired finish.
As you see on the photo, part of the grill has to be an exact cut or at least close to it. This section of the grill will be exposed and not covered by the grill sorround. Once painted black it will look better. I used a dremel to file the ends down. you will also see here that the rest of the grill extends out because it will be covered by the grill surround.
you can also see on this photo that I used a very thin metal wire to hold the grill down from the bottom and zip ties in each top corner to hold it down from the top.
The top part of the grill will be extended out and will be partially covered by the painted grill soround.
Here is a look at the entire grill.

thanks for the heads up on customcargrills new pre-cut grills for the 5th gen!!!
I cant wait to attempt this mod... I just have to wait till I have a day or two off to do it.
Still not sure the best way to tie it down... seen a lot of suggestions with zip ties and tape and maybe chewing gum?
