Satoshi Grill Mod - 5th Gen

did some work over the weekend on the front end. blacked out the chrome accents with the bezel. lovin' the satoshi grill mod.

That's badass!!! The additional lights really make its face "pop" IMO. All 4 bottom lights appear to be evenly spaced overall - looks great!

Does anyone make a grille with the same pattern as the stock grille, but would accept the old-school "TOYOTA" emblem? Just curious if it's possible to keep the stock "look" but swap TOYOTA emblems.

The Staoshi grilles do look sweet!

Thanks! It took a while to figure out how to get them in that position. And a lot of digging through the drawer of "crap I may need one day"... But I aimed the lights in the same direction as the fogs...

How did you all end up mounting this? Did you grind down the back tabs? Anyone have pictures of they mounted it to the mesh?

I cut off the back tabs and used outdoor double-sided 3m tape. So far in the middle of winter, did not fall off, good stuff. Andrew (Adio3x) used double-sided 3M tape for himself and a few other members on here, and as far as I know, they're doing ok too. The tape is taped to the whole emblem to add extra support.

Some kept the tabs, drilled a hole through the tabs, and put a pin through it to keep it on the grill just in case the tape didn't hold up. I would have done that, but the holes in the new grill were too small. Don't have pics, but I think aznsensation did this.

Been waiting what feels like for ever to do this mod. Very happy with the results. I bought a spare grill set up to mod and used grillcraft. very expensive for what it is, but it does look great and feels sturdy. Total time it took me was probably an hour or so. The write ups on here were very helpful, especially removing the end clips, only problem I had was my damn hands are too big... other then that start to finish a piece of cake. crappy cell pic, more/better pics to follow when the weather clears here and I find some time.

is there any particular reason why most people are purchasing an extra OEM grill to do this mod? Is it just an insurance policy if it takes too long or you screw up the process? Seems like a pretty straight forward and inexpensive mod with the customcargrill.com kit....

I have to say Thank you very much for the inspiration. I did not think it would be as easy as it was until I saw your pics in the post.

So I found this stuff on Ebay for like $25, just black mesh grill material. After installing I think it is too transparent, so I am searching for another alternative. Also have not decided weather to put Toyota emblem back on or not. It looks really plain the way it is. I feel like it needs something more, just looks like a big black hole now.

Getting dark so not the best pics.

Looks good, but a bit naked... needs the "TOYOTA", not the emblem.

I ordered this today. The TE conversion is on hold until my wife crushes my dream of adding a Scion FR-S to the garage, so the satoshi and blacking out the chrome is what I'll be doing in the mean time.

I did hofs05's in one night with her original grill. Just be careful.

Got my LE front end looking much better now. Satoshi and TE fog bezel/headlight swap. Grill kind of looks cheap, may update that later on. Happy overall though.
