Saw something weird in the woods.

So, my buddy and I were scouting some private land we hunt and we found two 5 gallon buckets stacked on top one-another on the ground upside-down at the base of a tree. One of the buckets had two triangle-shaped holes cut in it and there was duct tape wrapped around the top 1/3 of the bucket. The ground under the bucket looked like it had been dug-up and patted-down. It hadn't been there long because there were no leaves on it. Anyway...it was really suspicious and I was wondering if anyone had any idea what it could be.

We kicked it over. found just bare dirt that looked like it had been dug up with a dime-sized hole in the middle. Then we moved the bucket to another tree and covered the old spot with leaves, etc to screw with whoever put it there.

if it were geocaching, there would be something else there most likely a note or trinkets. I would guess it would be a trap of some sort. maybe for a bait or something.
