This is my DD, with trips into the mountains on FS/state roads, some very rocky roads with ruts, little bit of sand(Can drive on a few beaches on the Oregon/Wash. coast), camping, etc.. No rock crawling or anything too serious.

Nice truck, I'm looking to pick up a Limited myself. What color interior do you have? How dark is the blue in person? My wife is a big fan of blue however I'm partial to black, but I could probably learn to love a dark blue.

Thanks! It is very dark blue. Almost black at times dep on the light, I have the beige leather and didn't like it much at first but it is growing on me. I would skip the automatic running boards if I had the choice again

Few changes

Ok changed my mind on keeping the XREAS and using the Revtek lift.

Ordering a Toytec BOSS Suspension Kit from RCI, and ditching the XREAS(only 2000 miles on it)

And going with either Back Country SQ4's, or Toyo Open Country AT2's. Still undecided until I see both in person, but leaning towards Toyo's.

Les Schwab said I would have to do the lift first, since the 285/65-18's wouldn't fit, but I mentioned the Fitment guide saying that size was OK with just mudflap removal and fender liner mod, and the manager said that would probably be ok then.

Am I correct, or should I wait for the lift to come and do that first?
Going to go to a friend's house and use his garage, jack stands, tools, etc.. So hoping we can do it in 3-4 hours..

Wheel/Tire fit test

Went to Les Schwab to do a fit test on the front left wheel/tire combo and of course it rubbed really bad. Has been raining lately, so I hadn't went out and removed the mud flaps and pushed the fender liner forward. Will have to do that tonight.

Went with LT285/65-18 BFG KO2's, and 18x9 Black Rhino Warlords in Gunmetal.

Also my Toytec Boss Ultimate lift(with the 2.5 upgrade in front, as the normal ones are on back order) should be in tomorrow or Saturday. Will prob try to put that on first before having the wheels and tires installed, just to be safe.

The UCA's looked ok, and weren't too close to the tire, so should be ok there too.

Thanks! I do too! Wasn't too sure about the beige interior, but it is growing on me. They said it was one of the last limiteds they could find, and it still had the shrinkwrap from the transport on it when we test drove it, but they could have just been trying to sell it too

Found an installer for my lift!

Decided to pay someone to do the lift, and have been trying to find someone in the Hillsboro(Portland) Or area.

Had someone in Cornelius, but they didn't know anything about Toytec or XREAS, but said they could learn on my truck for $400. It is an auto body shop that just opened an off-road shop a year or so ago. Looks like it is his 20 or so year old grandson running the offroad shop.

Called around and finally found Precision Import Auto, and they specialize in Toyota, Lexus, and other imports, and have even removed XREAS before, so they know what to do(even though it doesn't look that hard)

Dropping it off tonight and will report on how they do tomorrow. Then I can get the wheels/tires installed on Saturday.

I'm thinking it might be time to play in the mountains on Sunday

Nice! how are you liking it so far? I traded in my 2009 Tacoma Double cab and am loving it! Love the JBL system as I had it in the Tacoma as well, but this one sounds better. If only Entune/bluetooth wasn't so buggy. I'm anxiously waiting for the rumored November Entune update and hope that will fix things..

Really do like it. I can't believe how good the stereo is in this thing. I didn't even turn it up on the test drive....LOL I have not had any issues with the bluetooth at all. But so far so good on everything.

Had the lift installed today. Added 1.25" in the front(set at 2.5" from factory, but adjustable) and 2" in the back(non-adjustable)

Looks a little wierd with the stock wheels, and I think two kids in a lifted Tacoma were laughing at me when they drove by.

Getting the wheels and tires installed tomorrow, and probably an alignment Monday at an alignment shop that does alot of offroad alignments.

Called around to a few of the recommended shops that I found on these forums, and a couple have been closed.
Others said they were booked out through end of November, but this one said "How about tomorrow?"

They charge $92/hr, and it took them 5.5 hours to remove the XREAS(2 months old) and install the new lift kit.

They also recommend Norb's Alignment Center: 503-642-4202 and I'm going to try them next week.

Ok had the tires and wheels installed today. Will get more info and pics but is it normal for a new lift to have weird squeaks? Didn't notice them until I put bugger tires on and now it sounds like the suspension is creaking. I'm hoping it just needs to settle.

Les Schwab did an alignment check today also. Pic below. Was told to use a real alignment shop instead of les schwab. Also heard to get a lifetime alignment at Firestone. Will be looking at both Monday

Still getting a bit of rubbing in reverse with full lock to left. So adjusted lift up about another half inch on both front sides. 38" from ground to fender above wheel on left and 38.25" on right.

Going to get an alignment on Monday. Getting the lifetime alignment at Firestone. Esp. Since it is $20 off right now.

First alignment and first MPG after lift

Finally had an alignment done today at Firestone(Lifetime alignment was $30 off, or 169.99 Not sure how long the sale is)

Took them about an hour, and seemed to get everything in spec. Drives nice and steering wheel is straight. Will find out Friday when I drive 350 miles and after 4wheeling a bit in North Central Washington.

Also today was my first fillup on the new lift and tires. 15.6 mpg this tank, but not sure how much of that was needing alignment, driving, or lift and tires. Will know more over the next few weeks.

Still a tiny bit of rub after alignment on right side when in reverse at full left wheel.. Will take a look and see what else I need to do on that side..

How are you liking the Boss 2.5 co? Why didn't you opt out for the Boss 2.5 rears to match? I'm planning on getting the Boss 2.5 COs but still deciding what to do in the rear.

Mostly cost. was over budget already. When I ordered the Ultimate kit from RCI, I found out that even from Toytec, the Ultimate 2.0 was out of stock, and Josh said he had a package that wasn't on the Toytec site that had upgraded fronts. I should have just spent the extra $200 or so and went all 2.5, but so far I am happy with it. Haven't had it off-highway yet, but going to try to hit Tyee Lookout this next weekend while visiting my parents in Washington State. Probably snow already, so might have to try another FS road or something. The Tyee Lookout road is very rocky, with rocks sticking up in the road 8" or so in places.

Will post pics of my new 4Runner's first official off-highway trip..

Have Gobi install rack? Or do it myself?

Ordered a Gobi Stealth Rack during the last group buy, but we are moving to the Denver area within a month or so. I talked with TrailDuty about how to schedule the delivery since I had no idea of an address to use in Colorado(Will be in Corporate housing until we find a house) and didn't want it delivered up here to Oregon. They said that if I was in Denver, Gobi will install it for free.

The question is, should I still do it myself, so I can use the silicone to waterproof, or should I let them install it? Not sure how good of a job they would do, but since they probably do lots of them, I assume they are quick and would do OK.. I guess I could always let them install, then when I get a garage and tools moved, I could remove and silicone then..

We could do it ourselves, but living in corporate housing, would prob be tough to install, and I'm sure they wouldn't have a place to store it until I install.
