First, I'm only questioning the transmission temperature feature as that's the only one that I'm doubting. Does anyone else wonder if what they read is correct? Does anyone know where the transmission temp reading is monitored? I get standard readings over 200 regularly and have has 240+ hauling my trailer. Considering that all I can find is generic ranges for tranny temps I have no idea of what is considered "too high" so enlighten me please.

Not a huge fan of scan gauge, but that said all it is doing is pulling info from the sensors. Unless it us calibrated wring, it should be accurate.
FYI: those temps are very high. I have a v8, tow a heavy sailboat regularly in the south and up mountains.
I have never exceeded 200 degrees, ever. I usually stay between 150-180 depending on weather and driving.
240 would worry me. Something dragging?

I think I hit 230 once, but normal cruising with the trailer is between 190 and 210. When it hits 200 I start to modify my driving - slow down, manually shift, etc. If I'm going up a long, steep road pulling the trailer I will sometimes hit 220 but not for very long.
Big thing to remember: Take it out of OD. Switch from OD to 4th and it will keep your transmission cooler when towing.
I have heard (anecdotally) that once transmission temps hit 240 it can damage the fluid.
