Are you kidding? My dad and her dad and every parent says the exact same stuff. You don't know they are doing it. Your kid can promise he will drive safe and be like her and text and drive and you'd never know it. Telling them you are going to take their keys will do absolutely nothing. If they are a weak minded kid it might make them more rebellious. I have friends that thrive off of it when their parents threaten them with punishments, it makes doing all that stupid crap that much more fun. That's not me, but there are kids like that.

To Mtn.Rush- There is no danger in pulling out and sending a quick text while at a stop sign. I can't think of a single way that could go bad. As long as there is nobody at the one going the other direction.

Lefty- I did not do 100 approaching the bridge, I was nowhere near it. I got back onto the road and gunned it, but I am not stupid and reckless enough to fly over a bridge like that. There was nobody on the road either, so if I killed anyone while speeding, it would've been me. It wouldn't have happened, because sober people are perfectly capable of driving 100mph in a straight line, seeing a bridge and slowing down, and then driving off the road and parking it in grass. You may cringe at hearing about the high speeds, but I'm sure you are capable of doing exactly what I did without being dangerous about it. Nothing unsafe or dangerous there.

ZandT4R- I don't understand what you mean. If you are sitting in a chair and somebody comes from the side and lifts up the right side 7 or 8 inches, you are going to have trouble sitting in the seat. The door was not going to swing open and hit the ground. But the car was angled enough where I was falling out and needed to hold myself in while i closed the door. The car isnt a corvette, the door isnt close enough to the ground to hit the grass when it's angled. Theres still alot of clearance.

Heres another story, I got pulled over by an undercover black impala and told me i was doing 69 in a 55. He didnt give me a ticket or warning, instead he gave me his card and told me to call him when I turn 18 and we can do a ride along until I get bored. Now go ahead and rip me to pieces for doing 14 over the limit.

Holy crap, I don't even know where to begin. As someone else pointed out, the story was almost incomprehensible. Some paragraph breaks would have been lovely. :bigok:

So you looked in your rear-view mirror.
Some person flipped a u-turn, BUT stayed on same side of highway?
That person hit your ex-gf's (but not really your ex-gf) vehicle.

So you flip a u-turn (crossing media) yourself to go back.
You drive recklessly to get back to scene of accident.
You cross the median (again) while flipping another u-turn.
You park the 4Runner on median, and run across all lanes and up an offramp?

I think I got it. Sounds like there are many morals to the story. Glad to hear everyone is ok.

-She was never hit. I have no idea how, but nobody rammed her even though she was perpendicular to the right lane, and in it.

-She drifted into the shoulder, oversteered back into the lane, lost traction in the shoulder and fishtailed until she was facing the on-comming cars.
-I made a U-turn in the median and drove recklessly back to the scene, thinking it was an accident, but thank god it wasn't.
-Did not cross another median though, I drove into it, and parked.
-I ran up the median to the street she was on, ran across all the lanes, and then over to her. There was no offramp.

Other than that, you picked up the story pretty well.

Yeah I think english is my worst. My SAT was like a 570 english. I got a c+ in it this year and a c+ on the exam. I wish I could show off my amazing social studies and history skills.

Maybe not at a stop sign, but at a stop light I can see it going bad. If the person texting doesn't see the light change there's the chance of someone else seeing the green light and assuming they are, or will, move. Not a common occurrence, but that's a way it could happen.

Did you turn on your neons after you crazily parked in the ditch to signal to on coming traffic that there was something going on?

Did you make them flash?

You have to actually do it. It's rough, but it works.

I just started telling him I'm sorry, that I'm skaken up because the call for an accident on this road at 11 last night was me and my friend. It was pure b.s, I was fully capable of driving the speed limit, but why not try? So he said that he doesn't like giving juveniles tickets but does give warnings so he walked back to the impala, got 1/2 way and then walked back to me. He goes " ah, Im not gonna give you a warning either". I was wearing an underarmor shirt that says "DEA" on too. I waited until all the cop buisness was cleared up and I told him that I plan on working for his police dept for a couple years when I graduate college, and then going to the DEA. Then I asked how old you have to be to do ride alongs, and he said 18. So I told him that he was a really nice guy and asked if he does them, and he said " not really, but I had a senior in high school ride with me last year". He gave me his buisness card or whatever the hell it is, and told me to call the station when I turn 18 and tell them I want to ride with Officer Hamilton. So I kept the card and that's what I'm going to do.

I still disagree with you on the traffic light thing. Most kids are good enough and smart enough to pay attention to the light. It's not like the phone is out for 2 minutes, just a couple seconds to write a message.

Easily over 100 is a little exagerated, however, I was at least doing 100. So not too exaggerated.

And I still don't understand you arguing about the punishing kids thing. If my dad or any dad caught their kid texting or calling while driving, they would take the keys. Very few parents bluff about that stuff. The problem is you have to catch them doing it, which is very difficult.

They don't flash. And why the hell would I turn them on when they're illegal on the highways. And even if they were on, it wouldn't indicate something was going on. The ambulance and cops did that. You really should stop being a jackass.
