Scheduled Maintenance?

I have a 2003 V8. Engine oil/filters have always been on schedule. I just replaced the oem air filter with a TRD. The a/c filter has also been replaced. I am just over 46,000 miles.

What else needs to be done soon? The iridium spark plugs are scheduled for 60,000 miles. (With my average miles that will be in about three more years).
How about the other fluids?

Toyota's Regular Maintenace Service recommends engine coolant replacement every 2 years; automatic transmission fluid replacement every 6 years; differential and transfer case fluids replacement every 2 years.

The engine coolant, transmission, differentials (front and rear) and transfer case fluids were all replaced on my T4R after 3 years (115,000 km). All this was done in 2006 prior to my purchasing it.

I have not done a thing to any of these fluids since I took ownership in 2007.

Other things mentioned in the Specific Maintenance Service include lubrication of the propeller shaft every year.

My personal recommendation is to get an annual brake service - the well known issues with seized calipers (that I have also experienced) means that I pay special attention to my brakes.

BTW, as per Toyota, engine coolant should be replaced as follows:

"Initial replacement at 100,000 miles/120 months. Replace every 50,000 miles/60 months thereafter."

I think they switched to iridium plugs for the V8 (120k intervals) in 2005. I think 2003-2004 models have platinum plugs which are 60k. They are still a little pricey but not as painful as the iridium plugs.

Well maybe I lied there, I just looked up the spark plug part # and it say it is the same 03-09. If I am reading the info correctly on the parts & service site linked it above it says to do the plugs @ 60k for 2004 V8 but every 120k for 2005 V8. I think my owners manual says 60k also. If they really are the same part # then I am just waiting until I hit 120k for them since my MPG is still decent.

If you read a little closer, they changed the wording slightly in the footnote after '04. After '05, they added '1GR-FE' to the footnote to indicate it applies only to the V-6. For '03, '1GR-FE' was noted right on the 'replace spark plug' item. Dollars to doughnuts, the '04s are no different in having copper plugs in the 1GR and irridium in the 2UZ.

Rockwall and Charlie...the '03's came with Toyota LLC (red stuff) that needs to be changed every 30K. Starting with '04, Toyota switched to SLLC (pink) which can go 100k on the initial fill. LLC and SLLC are compatible so once can switch to SLLC and go to the 50K schedule. If you let the dealer do your coolant, this will probably happen "automatically".

I have a 2003 V8, it has Iridium Plugs an the manual says 120k miles. I tried to have it done at 90k and the tech said to save my money, wait until 120k. I never noticed a decrease in performance before nor an increase in performance after replacement.

That would explain it...the rest of us are talking US schedules, which appears to be very different from the Canadian. Even the 2003's that came with T-IV ATF are considered "lifetime" unless a lot of towing or offroading is involved. Same with the diffs. There are some inspections called out at certain mileage, but no recommended change interval. Coolant is 30K *miles*/24 months with LLC, but goes to 100k/120months on factory fill and 50k/60months with SLLC in the '04 and later years.
