School me on speakers and amps

So those Infinity 4"'s are good, huh? And they fit in stock location in dash?May we know what model?

I don't have any idea, sorry... I didn't put them in the truck, just found them in the dash while I was doing other stuff and said "hey look! I DO have speakers in there!"

If you did this without additional amp power, it simply helps prove that good acoustics is the foundation, before we upgrade electronics. Good acoustics is finesse; Additional amp power is brute force.

No, the problem is the hole's too big . There's a giant gap in the sheet metal where I want to mount the speaker, so I'll get myself a couple chunks of MDF and go to town, thanks guys!

It might be because we have different trucks.

Seems to me KidV wanted minimal changes and it seemed like he did it by putting combination of speakers in the right places without need for additional amp power.

I've got a 1986 4Runner with a soft top...
Or do I really need to invest in an amp to do what I want?

Cheap stuff. My rig isn't secure, so nice components are out of the question.
Thanks for the input, I'll try and find an amp or a cheap deck with 6 outputs.

Oh, wow. I guess I didn't realize how much I didn't know, glad I started this thread!

So if I want to get off cheap, I forget the 4.5's and run 6's in front and 6x9's in the rear. Any more speakers than that, I need an amp, and anything bigger than a 6.5 or so, I need an amp, have I got that?
