Scion T1808 Install

Did you buy it on ebay? If you did you can file a paypal claim but you have to do it asap since there is a time limit.

Reason: product does not work as stated.

He did contact me today. I'm going to try disconnecting it and reconnecting it tomorrow to see if that makes a difference. That was my own idea, not his. If that doesn't work by some miracle, then I guess we'll settle up somehow.
 
ahh that sucks!

I googled that and a few threads popped up of other scions owners complaining that CD get stuck and never came out again. Sounds like you got a jacked up unit.

disconnecting it and reconnecting it should not make any difference. you could just unplug the battery and plug it back it, you will be doing the same thing.

there are many wires in the back of the stereo but it only the power cord has any effect on the player's ability to eject a CD.

Were they all the same model or scion units in general?
 
In my wife's subaru Outback I had to take the stereo out and remove the outer cover allowing access to see the CD's from the top. The one that stuck was a burned copy of another CD we have. I moved it around with a screwdriver and then it ejected although it ruined the CD. Everything works fine now.

Was it off track and wouldn't play?

The one he left in there plays fine which leads me to believe it being stuck may not be the problem. But I don't know if my thinking is correct.
 
The last message I received from the seller was on the 10th and haven't heard from him since. I'm going to give him one more day to see if he comes back on before I report to paypal which is something I want to avoid if at all possible.
 
One thing to mention is that I had to trim a little plastic off the units face plate. It is not visible from the front of the unit and all this was done thinking I'm the owner of a functional piece of equipment. My question is, Does this void me of trying to get my money back or should I just let this go? I don't want to because I feel like he may have known there was something wrong with the unit because he sent me a PM later stating he thinks he left a CD in there....it was and won't come out. That's the problem I'm having now. I have a glorified FM radio player. I've PMd him a few times since then but he hasn't been on that much and I find myself waiting a few days before he responds to the last message. And when he does, he only says let me know how you're making out. He hasn't responded to the last 2 I sent him and he was online after I sent them.

So what would you do in this situation? I've never had a bad experience dealing with anyone on this or any other forum.

once youve hit the eject button use a 2nd CD to fish the stuck disc out. Whether to do said fishing from the top or bottom of the CD opening the post doesnt say.
 
In the future, the best option is to just buy a new head unit. You can get some with really nice features for not a lot of money. Those in dash cd changers are just trouble wating to happen. I had one fail in my wife's old jeep liberty. She really didnt like the look of an aftermarket radio, so i went out and found a refurb replacement on ebay. Got it and the power knob got damaged in shipment. Sent it back, got another one and it wouldnt output any bass. I was able to take the cd changer out of the new one and put it in the old radio and came out with a working unit. Tore the heck out of the old cd changer getting the stuck cd's out but the place i bought from still gave me a few bucks for the bad one. Worked out ok and i was covered for any fraud. But i realized how much plastic is in these things and it turned out to be plastic parts that were worn out and broken.
