Scotsman TRDP build

Put a deposit on a TRDP back in December last year after hearing that VW would buy back my diesel wagon. VW bought the car back last month on the 20th, while I was out of the country for work. My dealer could still not confirm a date when my TRDP was going to arrive, so I was getting a little anxious about not having a vehicle. After putting a little pressure on the dealer they sourced one from Gulf States Toyota which i picked up last Saturday 4/1, a day after I got back from my trip. (lucky) Of course not everything can be perfect and the truck had a bunch of options that I did not want such as OEM steps, remote start, glass break sensor. Anyways this thread will be of my build as I go. I'll start with a picture the day I picked it up.

1st "mod" was to take off the OEM steps as I'm on the C4 sliders group buy.

I ordered some overlays for the 4runner in the back. Looks much better IMO.

This weekend I'll be installing new front door speakers/tweeters and rear door speakers and sound deadening the doors. Some of the goodies have already arrived. Hopefully the rest comes tonight so I can complete tomorrow.

Speakers for the front doors. Image Dynamics CXS64
Tweeter/Speaker mounts from Taco Tunes
Wire Harness from Taco Tunes so I that I don't have to splice original wiring
Raam Mat and Ensolite deadening material from RaamAudio
Still to come are the rear door speakers, mounts and harness.

Congrats on the awesome truck man! I look forward to following along with this build as it progresses. I am also awaiting delivery of my TRD pro, but have already ordered the taco tunes speaker mounts. Out of curiosity, are you going to be powering the speakers off of the factory head unit, or do you have plans for external amplification. I have a set of Audiofrog GB series speakers that I am dying to install when I get the truck, but I'm trying to decide which amp and dsp to use! Congrats again.

right now I'm just going to power off the headunit and see how it sounds. I'm torn about adding a small sub. If I add a sub I think I'll order the taco tunes recurve and a JL Audio 5 channel amp.

nice rig.... why do people cover their license plate in pictures? Do you cover it when you drive down the road? weird.....

Lookin good.

I'm planning on going with the recurve and JL XD1000/5v2 amp, pushing a 10TW3-D4 if i can get a custom box squeezed in the back.

When i get my runner that is...

did the deadner and speakers at the weekend. sounds a lot better imo. took a few pics, but not very many. About halfway through the 1st door I asked myself why I didn't pay someone to do this.

rig looks awesome! congrats on the cement! Dig the audio upgrade too. Please post up a parts list for your audio upgrade once complete and links on where to buy, or shoot me a pm? I'm in ATX... If you're up for another install session, let me know! I'll make the drive and bring plenty of booze! haha

thanks, i'm pretty happy with it so far! As far as the audio upgrade its pretty simple and you can do it, I wouldn't want to do it again to be honest, not that fun of a thing to do.

I used these videos to complete the job and it was pretty straight forward.

For the matting/deadening I bought this and still have a decent amount left over which I will probably use on the trunk at some point.
Package # 1 -------- 20 Sheets of RAAMmat BXT II (37.5 sq ft) and 3 yards of Ensolite IUO Peel and Stick Foam (41.625 sq ft) - RAAMaudio Inc.

Front speakers I bought this package and added the speaker and tweeter mounts, the speaker harness and the longer bolt kit. Also I found out after I should of ordered the tweeter harness which isn't on this page.
Toyota Tacoma Image Dynamics CXS64 Component Front Door Speaker Installation Kit

Rear speakers I bought this package and added the speaker mounts, harness and longer bolt kit. Didn't need the tweeter stuff as its a coaxial.
Toyota Tacoma Rear Door Image Dynamics CTX65 Coaxial Speaker Installation Kit

I looked around at the pricing for these speakers and found that the prices there were competitive enough to not warrant ordering from different places.

If you have any questions you can PM or ask here.

Csx64 crossover settings

I have a similar setup with the CSX64 up front. However, the tweeters sounds overly bright in the 1.5k - 4k htz range. I would love to know what jumper settings you used for the crossovers.
