The 80 LC is a good price if the mileage is correct. The 80 series came with lockers I believe both front and back as standard (if not please correct me). The 80 series have its infamous head gasket issue so check that.

If it is a 5 speed, the AD will be removed by now!

The F/R lockers were optional. It seems like they show up on about 25% of the 80s that I see listed FS. They were not offered with a 5 speed in the US as far as I know.

Locker? It has an e-locker too? Yeah, good find and great deal. Valve cover gaskets are a piece of cake.

Yea, I wouldn't have bought it if it was a plain old Limited. I need something unique, locker, 5 speed or S/C for fun & resale value. Otherwise I would have saved more for an 05 V8 Sport.

The only important things I couldn't tell from the records was if the rad & lbj's were changed. The timing belt was the main thing. I dont want to do that!

Funny you say that... I'd rather do timing belts all day versus ball joints and valve cover gaskets!

I like the 5 speed more, but I'd love to have an auto too. Some things about the auto is just awesome. I'd prefer an auto for off-road for sure, but I like the 5 speed for bombin around town and backroads.

Well, congratulations on your new baby. There are local help groups for folks like you. Those that hoard and those with addiction problems. Your timing is perfect with the new garage and the price you paid for a locked limited is outstanding as you already know. You definitely scored big time. Coming from the PNW where prices are ridiculously high, you have a lot of room for any kind of maintenance, such as LBJ's, radiator etc...plus some.

It's going to be difficult to restrain yourself this upcoming year. Your mental list of things you "want" to do with both rigs is just going to grow exponentially x2. The good thing is, you already know what "needs" to be done and I know you'll do everything right the first time. What a great way to bring in the new year. Be safe and enjoy. Will raise a shot of Jack for ya tonight!

Thanks, for the limited (see what I did there) time I've had behind the V6 auto it feels nice. I much prefer a manual in downhill slippery conditions over riding the brake but you can downshift an A/T too it's just that most people that never drove stick dont understand that.

Thanks Mike! I know that this is a $7500 truck in some markets but if you look on CL the N.E. 3rd gen market is pretty cheap. They're all rusted out pieces of crap at this age. This was one of the most expensive ones around @ $6k & was listed for 3 months. I got lucky that no one looked at the history & most people aren't car shopping right before the holidays.

Since we're on the subject...can you tell me what's the largest tire I can fit with the stock suspension? :doh:

Did you test drive any 4th gens? I'll tell you for sure that my wife's rig would easily smoke both the Tacoma and my 4Runner with it's bone stock 4.0 V6. That 4 liter engine has some pep, and is nuts with a SC. I had a ride in a 6 speed FJ with a SC 4.0 and it absolutely romped!

I've always wondered how the 4th gen V8 compares to a supercharged 3rd gen. I've never driven a supercharged 3rd gen. If the V6 is already faster than the 3rd gen then that answers my question. My mom's 4th gen has the V8. She's the original owner, I love driving it with the V8. When you want to go, you go :bounce:

How is that not sold already? If that was closer to me I'd be all over it.

We ended up getting her an 04 Outback LL Bean 3.0 H6. One owner with only 37K on it. That little car is fast. It looks like an old lady car, she drives like an old lady & gets mad at me when I drive it places because I put it through the paces. I tell her, "you got to open this thing up once in a while" & it's a bigger motor than my T4R! LOL

Whenever I go up north I always notice how many Outbacks I see, compared to hardly any down south. Really shows their capability in the snow for daily driving type of duties.

My GF would have been pissed if I bought another manual! LOL
She cant even start my truck. LOL She's so worried about grinding gears, imagine her at a red light on a hill, she'd roll into the car behind her, LOL
It's my money & my truck but she moved in 8 years ago & we need something larger than her 04 Outback to transport our 3 dogs to the vet, kennel or where ever. She has the LL Bean Edition with nice soft leather so they have to stay in the back. It will be our puppy hauler! We got a puppy Rotty 9 months ago & now she's 90lbs. It's a pain taking my 12" sub box out of the old T4R to haul the dogs or go on a trip. (I know 1st world problems)

She loves 4runners & loves looking at the built ones on here so she's really excited to drive our new one.

I could make up a million excuses for buying this truck! LOL It's a 3rd gen addiction! LOL

Rotty's are great. My brother had 2 females, one lived 14 years & the second only lived 10 because she was really fat & lazy! LOL
My GF & her ex husband used to breed them & do Schutzhund. She had a female when we started dating & passed away 3 years ago at 13. Our 90# puppy is a sweet heart! She still tries to sleep on my chest like she did as a baby but I have to push her off because I cant breath! She's a cuddle bug.
We're friends with a breeder who lives in Suffern & my GF was running his web site & FB page for free so he gave us the pick of his last litter. All paper work & great German blood lines. The guys name is Butch @ Von Eisen Krieger Rottweilers if you want to check on his next litter. Probably wont be for a little while because he looking to move.

I think you'll like the 5VZ and A340 combo. As stated, smooth and quiet. I just did a 409 stainless system with a huge muffler on my most recent 3rd Gen. It's soooo quiet. All I hear is that fan and intake noise under acceleration now. Get some Redline D4 or Amsoil in the transmission too. They like that fluid a lot.

haha yep, I bought her snow tires last year for her Outback & it's like a little tank in the snow.

It's so annoying to me to be behind someone riding the brakes all the way down a hill! It's one of my pet peeves! I take my car out of overdrive & coast downhill. If it's snowy & slippery out & I'm rolling too fast I put it in L2, why dont people know this!

Thanks, I've always liked the Silver too. I wish I found something more rare like Autumn Blaze but I would have taken any color as long as the clear coat wasn't messed up. I really didn't want another Desert Dune though. Gotta have something different.

I had it out in the snow yesterday in AWD & it was smooth as silk. These 4runners are pretty good trucks! :biggrin2:
