I ordered the AVS full coverage hood deflector. Cant be getting rock chips on the hood!

I'm a little late but congratulations on the new purchase & excellent choice! It took a minute for it to register that you had another 3rd gen when I noticed in in your sig. Post up some more pictures, I like looking at other people's 4runners better than my own lol.

Thank You! haha, me too, I spent hrs on the forum last night going through the Millennium Silver pic thread & the big 3rd gen pic thread at the top. I want to keep her stock but the mod bug is strong with this one. After LBJ's & radiator I'll be looking at wheels to set her apart. Oh, and a sport hood & color matched grill & manual swap...LMAO!

Here's a few more pics. My GF is driving me back to CT tomorrow with plates & insurance to bring our new baby home. I'll be putting a new hood guard on her & tightening the valve covers before getting on the highway.

I went & drove her home today! I'm so impressed with this truck! The engine & trans pulls strong! She felt great on the test drive but since it was during a snowstorm I didn't get her over 40mph or on the highway. I was expecting the usual old age stuff like tired shocks, springs, loose steering & maybe a classic 3rd gen vibration somewhere in the drivetrain or steering but nothing! She almost drove like a new truck. She feels heavier & more solid than my 3RZ too even though mine has a SW bumper on the front. Maybe it's a combination of the leather interior, door panels, Limited flares & cladding. She feels less tinny if that makes sense. I had her up to 80mph on the highway a few times on the 2hr drive. Another thing that really impressed me was how planted the tires were over rough roads. I guess I'm used to driving a lifted tippy rig. Six pages of dealer maintenance on the CarFax really paid off! I'm really excited about this one & my GF loved driving it too! :behindsofa:

It does have that quirky auto climate control that I've read about here, and of course the clock doesn't work! The valve covers are leaking. One of the fog light bulbs is out. And like I said earlier she does have a lot of scratches & dings, definitely a 20 footer.

This was my view from the window this morning. :bigok:
My 3RZ is being a garage queen for the winter so my driveway looked neked.
Went to Pep Boys on my lunch break today & picked up (2) 18" Rain-X Latitude blades & washer fluid for the snow storm coming tomorrow. I also grabbed fog light bulbs & a quart of oil to keep in the cargo area cubby hole.
I have the AVS hood protector to put on & ordered the AVS 4 window rain guards too.

Today I got her inspected & she passed with flying colors!
I've been DD her for 6 days now & she is awesome. I've gone through 2 tanks of gas & I averaged 16.17 mpg on the first tank but was heavy footed feeling out the motor, AWD & 4WD getting everything lubed. The second tank was much better at 17.88 & that's even using AWD in the snow on Wed.
Here's a couple of pics from Wed morning, we got 6" overnight.

I love having AWD. Use it all the time in rain or snow or any other conditions where 4H might be overkill.

Yesterday was 50* & sunny so it was time to start adding parts I've been accumulating. AVS hood guard, window guards, 18" Rain-X Latitude wiper blades & a new rear wiper arm & blade.

You can see here what happens to the hood without a guard. Dont go cheap & get the one that only protects the hood because you will get chips on your fenders. This is all going to start to rust (already has) but hopefully I can find a nice Sport Hood & then just touch up the fenders.

I hate the AVS sticker on there, the last time I bought one the sticker came on the side with the option to put it on. Oh well...

I put the bumpers in the softest spots (On The Guard) not on the hood. This is where the guard bends the most & if the bumpers come off can scratch the paint on the highway with strong winds or at the carwash. I learned this the hard way on my 3RZ when the factory bumpers came off & I didn't notice until one day I went to wax her & got really pissed off that my clear coat was worn off. I did it the same way on the new hood guard for my 3RZ in 2014 & it's it's been fine since.

And the rain guards, rain & melting snow will come in your windows if they're cracked on a turn or braking, I hate that!

Rear Wiper Arm Install
The previous owner really messed up the rear windshield wiper arm. It looks like it was bent to make the blade press against the glass better or some kid pulled on it & they bent it back. Whatever, it had to go because where it was bent the paint was peeling & starting to rust.
You can see the blade was shot too & the metal was scratching the paint.

I picked up a mint used arm from E-Bay for $23. It came with the arm, grommet, nut & the plastic catch piece that goes on the hatch. The new wiper blade I had laying around from my other truck. I love the junkyards from out West that sell on E-Bay. Why pay $60 from the dealer? I've grabbed some nice stuff over the years for the Metallica truck.

First take off the plastic cover. Pull the arm towards you & the cover pops off.

The 10mm nut was rusty so I hit it with some WD40.

Pull out your handy dandy bolt extractors & realize the size you need was destroyed in a previous rusty bolt removal! LOL

So hammer on the next smallest size socket (9mm) without denting the sheetmetal.

Sound like you'll have to go in from the inside. Pull the interior trim off. Pull the wiper motor. Rust sucks man. This truck is so clean & then to find that rusty nut, I was like WTF!?
