Scratch/Dent Fix

Good afternoon. Unfortunately, while parked at a parking lot, I came back to a large scratch and gouge on the passenger rear door. The truck is far from perfect, but this still sucks. The truck is a '97 with 240K on it. It does have little dings and things like that, but for the most part, it's a great truck and I just did a 1,400 road trip with it. I'd like to continue to keep it for a few more years.

Wanted to get the boards ideas on easy fixes for this. I could take it to a shop locally, but honestly, I've never really dealt with something like this before. I wanted to see if there was something I could do myself. I don't mind learning a new skill, but also want to make sure it doesn't look terrible or worse. This something I could take on or should I take it to a local shop and just have them handle it?

That sucks. I'm guessing they didn't leave a note? I have a dented front bumper from the same sort of thing. Pisses me off every time I see it. Doesn't anyone take responsibility for their actions?

I am no body shop guy. Far from it. But it doesn't look too creased/kinked from the photo. I'm thinking you could take the door skin off the inside and if you can get access to that spot you can probably get that to pop back out. Either by hand or with something like a carefully padded 2x2 and some gentle tapping with a hammer. Pad the 2x2 so you don't make marks in the door from the inside. Then do as you like about touching up the scratches.

That's what you could do if you don't care about Perfect.

I think the running boards look worse then the gouge....JK. I would just sand it and hit it with some gloss black Rustolem . Or just cover with a TRUMP bumper sticker [emoji12]

Should pop back out fairly easy. Like said above, remove the inside door pannel and knock it out.

Then if you're up to eat, sand it down a bit, get it as flat as possible with some body filler and then slap some black paint on it.

Another example of why most humans suck. That damage is going to require some bodyshop experience in repairing/paint blending.

Pretty common color combo, you might be able to find a good looking door pretty easily.
