Scratch on side of the car

*Note: I just got some teeth removed and I am very much caked up on different drugs for pain, so if I seem to not make sense please excuse me.

I recently got a 2007 4Runner and someone dingus decided it would be nice of him to key on the side of the truck from front right fender, just above the tire, to the rear passenger door.

Does anyone happen to know of a good DIY kit or solution so fix this rather than taking it to a shop. It is dark at the moment and can't get a decent picture so I can try to take one tomorrow assuming I am up to the task of moving about.

The majority of the scratch is not terribly deep but a good 12'' or so is fairly deep.

With a scratch that long I would just go to a bodyshop. Any DIY job is bound to look like total crap. I don't recommend you waste your time IMO.

I think t4r2014 is right. You may be able to make it a little better by DYI methods, it will never look perfect like it did before. And you run the risk of making it worse(as t4r stated look like crap )

Pics would be nice. Depending on how deep the scratch is, you might be able to at least make it look better.

Well thanks for the quick reply's. I will try to get a picture tomorrow. And the scratch is not nearly as bad as that, it is a single long line.

A repair on a long scratch like that will stick out. It would bug me as much as the actual scratch, but your expectations may be different.

I had seen this video too. That guy Larry does some killer work.

That scratch was crazy deep, and I believe he tried three different methods of doing it.

I was about to search and find that video. Amazing. The level of detail is impressive, and he explains why it is so difficult to get it right, let alone close.

I'd go with those who suggested a pro to do it. Don't try something that hard on your own.

I hope the person who did it gets kicked in the nuts. Really hard.
