Screeching Noise on 2nd Day of Ownership

Hey Everybody,

I just bought my first 4Runner! I spent tons of time on this forum learning from all of you before I bought it, so thanks for the info!

I drove 200 miles to pick-up it up from a dealer and the ride was nothing but smooth on the way back. The next morning though (and from then on), there was a screeching noise every time I took my foot off the gas. It sounds like it might be a belt of some sort, but I also heard it could be a speedometer cable.

Does anybody know what is going on? Any help would be appreciated.

I doesn't seem to matter what speed I am going.
The noise happens for the first 20 minutes of driving when I take my foot off the gad pedal. As the engine gets warmer it starts to subside and after about half an hour the sound is pretty much gone completely.

It might have something to do with the climate also. I bought it a dealer in Palo Alto where it was pretty warm and there weren't any noises when I test drove it. It started happening the next day in Truckee where it is pretty cold.

Any thoughts?

There is a TSB for the serpentine belt pulley to be re-positioned. Mine did that as well, and after the dealer fixed it, problem solved...Do a search on the topic, for it was discussed...Good luck!
