SCS Ray 10 & BFG KO2 Tire Wheel Balancing Issues

Ordered the tired from a popular online retailer and had them mounted on the rims a a national chain. Some vibration starting at 60, so I took them back to have them rebalanced.

Still getting vibrations at around 60 mph.

Anyone else have issues getting these things balanced?

Is this typical of this tire? Any suggestions?

I filed a warranty claim with BFG for out of round tires. I know it sounds crazy but they honored it and gave me a brand new set. It was a nightmare to get it confirmed. 2 tire shops, multiple visits, scratched rim, multiple arguments but I finally got a tech that convinced BFG to get me a new set. My new set still vibrates a tiny bit but better than before. I have been using BFG KO/KO2s for a while now but it's definitely a disappointment from my experience.

I have the 275 KO2's on the stock rims and i have the same issue
 
I have 275 KO2s that were fine for 8,000 miles, then randomly started vibrating between 55-60mph.

I've had them balanced twice, road force balanced once, and rotated once. Still vibrates.
 
I the main issue is they are heavy, heavy beasts. At first I thought mine were vibrating and out of balance, but turns out the road just sucked and anything like that gets them bouncy. Driving 85mph on the 130 toll road east of Austin FWIW.

Didn't realize that until I hit some buttery smooth road at 75mph and no vibration.
 
Part of it is the tire itself.

One thing I learned..., Never buy tires online. Always buy from a place like discount tire, since they will make it right.

Bad batches/tires are very common.

You can try road force balance, but I've seen mixed results on offroad tires.

Also. Tires are graded after mfg for how round they are... the crap ones go in the high bulk low price lots. The best ones go to OEMs... If you want a really smooth tire get a Toyo... smooth as silk but heavy as crap. Their mfg process results in a flawless tire. Nitto is a step down, but still decent. All the others are a roll of the dice in terms of being perfectly round. I've been happy with goodyear but they require balancing often.

I have 265 KO2s on my Tacoma and 285 KO2s on 4Runner and they never balance out right. I've had two replaced on the Tacoma and about to get one replaced on the 4Runner. Maybe it's time to run Toyo's

I got tires balanced at America tire. Aka discount tire. The first time it vibrated at 60. Brought it back to a different as I live closer to one. He told me that the prior installed had the smart weight system on and it sucks.

He balanced it and it's perfect. Nothing beats experience
 
Wow soothing to see other people are having this issue. I just threw level 8 mk6's on wrapped in falken AT and they are making my wheel shimmy at 50-60. had them balanced twice with no luck. About to go back for a 3rd.. maybe ill get lucky.
 
I have no vibration issues either...
I'm interested in hearing load ratings and tire pressures for comparison between those with issues and those without.

Mine are 275/70/17, E rated and 45psi (also on Ray 10s)

285/70/17 KO2s E rated 42 psi on SCS SR8
 
Just got a new set of 275/70 KO2s installed today and noticed some vibration in the same 55-60mph range...

I love the look of the tires, and I know a 10-ply, aggressive tread tire will definitely ride rougher than the LE donuts it had before, but not sure how much is "too much".
 
RoadForce balance will help you solve most out-of-round issues. :lookout: All my trucks are RF balanced
