So I bought a 19 trd OFP and didn't want to spend the 2800 extra for the TRD wheel and tire package, but I hate the look of these wheels and I dont really want to plasti dip them. I would rather sell them once I get TDR wheels or SCS wheels. I am in the starting stages of building this for overlanding and beach travel. I am looking at the SCS F5 with the -38 offset..I would like to get 33's or larger, I know the TRD wheels don't have a offset so the TRD wheels would be just for a better look.

Offset makes all the difference so i would go with SCS but you may want -10 rather than -38. -38 you will have to get a BMC for sure and do some other trimming. And by the way, at least last time I checked the SCS wheels are manufactured by the same company as the TRD wheels. Also, the TRD wheels are only 7" wide so technically tire manufactures don't recommend 285/70R17 on 7" wide wheels.

I have 33s on a 17x9 -38 scs wheel in it was quite the project to get rid of all the rubbing. It can be done, but cutting up a brand new truck isnt for everyone. That said, I have seen enough of the trd wheels, personally.

Yes you may not want to go with the -38 offset as it will stick out a lot, unless you're planning for aftermarket flares and some trimming.
I've had the Pro wheels since right after I bought it and now that everyone and their mom has them I got me some SCS wheels waiting to be mounted.
Not sure if the dealer gave you the price of $2800 for the Pro wheel/tire package but that's about $1K over priced.

Bummer about everyone having the TRD Pro wheels. They're good looking - I was thinking they might be my next move but had a feeling they might be overdone (new to the 4R world, just getting a handle on things). I'm leaning towards the KMC Enduros at the moment. We'll see how they grow on me.

I was going to get SCS Ray10's. But then there was that TRD 40% off sale that brought the TRD Pro wheels down to $129 each which I couldn't pass up so I got those instead.

I don't mind waiting for a TRD sale, whats the largest tire that can go on a trd wheel, Also I wouldn't mind the SR8 wheel but since the 17's are never in stock it's hard to figure out the price.

...I ran 285/70 for awhile on the stock trail wheels with no modification other than 3” lift.
Then put the 285s on the scs 17x9 -38
I think its a great looking combo but as mentioned will require some heavy modification to fit.

It was TRD's 40th anniversary sale so 40% off. So it's likely not going to happen again anytime soon. Hopefully there with be a 50% off sale in 10 years. :sadwave:
So SCS wheels would be your best option now since they are similarly priced as TRD Pro wheels at the regular price.

I had TRD PRO wheels on my Trail. Nothing wrong with them just wanted something more aggressive, so I bought SCS Ray 10s and BFG KM3s and it looks amazing now. With the SCS wheels you will have to get the ET lug nuts to get them on.

And another note, the stock TRD Off-road wheels are 7.5" wide and the TRD-Pro (also an option on the TRD Off-road now) are 7".
Also another thing to consider, the SCS wheels are hub-centric (better) and are lighter than stock TRD Off-road wheels by 4.5 lbs a piece. Not sure what the weight is for the TRD wheels. Wheel weight makes a big difference (Google "unsprung weight"). KMC's are heavy.

What’s your thoughts on 0 offset? I have 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3 that is ready to be mounted on FN six shooter wheels which have 0 offset and I wonder if it will cause any rubbings?

I really like the design of the Pro wheels and I never had a problem on airing down with my old 4Runner with 285’s and factory 16x7 wheels. The offset on the Pro wheel will also probably preclude you from doing a BMC with the right alignment and caster. I do like the SCS Ray 10’s, but, I would have to paint all the cubic zirconium’s going around the rim black.

I just bought gray TRD Pro wheels (mainly because the price is a lot better than the SCS). My Falken Wildpeak 265/70/17 (stock size) rub on the fender liner when full lock. I have stock suspension though. I also read you don't want to go too much bigger than that size, but many have.
The minimum I want is 278 or 285 to start
You can easily get a set of TRD PRO wheels for about $700 and about $12-1300 for tires 285/70/17= 33” there you go. SCS wheels will run you about $960-$1000 plus tires prices listed above.. hope it helps but it’s about as simple of a breakdown as I can think of.
