SDRunner Build Thread

The "SDRunner"

<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/user/jkcrawford56/media/IMG_3372_zpsw9t0lgag.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad119/jkcrawford56/IMG_3372_zpsw9t0lgag.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3372_zpsw9t0lgag.jpg"/></a>
I figured after being around for a few months and dumping all my spare money and time into the truck, It was about time to start a build thread!

Currently, the "SDRunner" resides in Del Mar, California and lives a privileged life away from the snow, salt, and poor conditions of colder weather. Not the first Toyota of the family, had a 2001 Highlander, 2007 Sequoia, and a 2013 Rav4 EV. Needless to say, I'm no stranger to 'Yota's, however this is the first that has been extensively modified!

When I saw the visual refresh, I knew that I wanted a trail, and I knew that I needed the Barcelona red color. (because it is the obvious best)Bought the truck in January, 2015 right off the boat, and haven't looked back since!

Night of pick up, thanks Toyota San Diego!

Goal of the build is a truck that will surely last awhile, through all my years in school, and tackle anything and everything I throw at it.
So, Without further adieu, Here we go!

The first mod I did was to Plasti-Dip the bumper valences to begin the all red/black transformation.

Finally had it taped off, beginning to rethink this whole masking off thing:confused:
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/user/jkcrawford56/media/IMG_2634_zps8hgo5mrs.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad119/jkcrawford56/IMG_2634_zps8hgo5mrs.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2634_zps8hgo5mrs.jpg"/></a>
After a couple coats, coming together
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/user/jkcrawford56/media/IMG_2642_zpsms8xadnn.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad119/jkcrawford56/IMG_2642_zpsms8xadnn.jpg" border="0" alt="After! photo IMG_2642_zpsms8xadnn.jpg"/></a>
Final Product

(I promise this thread won’t be all plastic dipping, just be patient lol)

After the valences, I decided to plastidip the fender flares, and a good thing I did! some ******* rubbed against me in the parking lot, but the dip actually negated the damage to my car!

Masked off and sprayed the fenders as well as the Toyota "T", easy job, just time consuming! Has held up okay, will most likely line-x next.

<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/user/jkcrawford56/media/IMG_2650_zpspv0wldw6.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad119/jkcrawford56/IMG_2650_zpspv0wldw6.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_2650_zpspv0wldw6.jpg"/></a>
(Ignore the wetsuit in the passenger seat)

Also added TRD Rims at this point, as well as n-fab nerf bars in preparation for being able to get into the car after a lift

The GOBI!!!
After the wheels and n-fabs got put on, it was time for one of those coveted Gobi Racks! Hopped into jicko 's group buy, and scored a sweet deal on rack and ladder. Install went relatively smoothly, other than the whole replacing gas struts solo, that was a toughie. Overall, this thing is great! Doesn't flex at all, even with above the static load limit on it.

<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/user/jkcrawford56/media/IMG_3154_zpslbokfdt9.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad119/jkcrawford56/IMG_3154_zpslbokfdt9.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo IMG_3154_zpslbokfdt9.jpg"/></a>

And the rear...
<a href="http://s927.photobucket.com/user/jkcrawford56/media/Screen%20Shot%202015-08-13%20at%2012.28.43%20PM_zpszgyhjvdk.png.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad119/jkcrawford56/Screen%20Shot%202015-08-13%20at%2012.28.43%20PM_zpszgyhjvdk.png" border="0" alt=" photo Screen Shot 2015-08-13 at 12.28.43 PM_zpszgyhjvdk.png"/></a>

By this time I already have my Icon Stage 2 installed (hence the decal) but could not find any before/after shots of the rake)

Considering how much $$ you've put into it I'm surprised all you've posted so far is plasti dip lol

Plasti-Dip the world! Hey, just got the same color and planning to do the same thing to the silver bits--what color did you use? Want to see the rest of this, for sure.
