Sea Foam engine decarbonizer instructions?

Finally Sea Foam engine decarbonizer products are available in Canada through Carquest and UAP/NAPA auto parts stores.Well I pickup up two cans of Sea Foam engine engine treatment (473 ml) part # SF16 C=$12+tx each and one can of Sea Foam Deep Creep (340g) part # DC14 C=$13+tx each (deep penetrating lube & throttle body/AFM cleaner safe on O2 sensor & TPS).

I asked the UAP/NAPA front counter person about using them and I was not confident with his knowledge on using this product so I emailed Sea Foam Sale Company:

http://www.seafoamsales.com

and haven't heard back yet.My questions to you all are:

1)Should I pour Sea Foam engine treatment in the throttle body (should I park at ground level or incline?) or through the PCV valve or brake booster vacuum line?.Reason I ask it says "if vehicle is port injected",is the 22R-E port injected?.When restarting 5 minutes later should I let it idle or rev the RPMs?.

2)When pouring 1/3 to 1/2 of can into the engine oil (as stated on their website) should I do this just before an oil change? or can I do it now even though I still have about 3000 KM before next oil change?.
3)How much gasoline should be in a 65 liter gas tank when pouring 1/3 to 1 full can of Sea Foam engine treatment?.

The vehicle in question is 1995 Toyota 4-Runner,4 cylinder EFI (22R-E engine),with 65 liter gas task,4 liter engine oil pan, with about 225 000 KM.It takes many turns of engine cranking before starting cold, she idles rough, misses on the highway specially under load.

Glad to hear that it is available here now. I can't help you on the way to use it as I never have myself before. I am interested on what kind of results you get when you do try it out though. I have been wanting to try it for a while as I have heard great things about it. Please post a follow up.:)

I have used SeaFoam before on my 924runner v6.
good rule of thumb is use 1/3 on crank case, 1/3 on fuel, and the 0ther 1/3 straight into the engine via vacuum tube.

Since my pcv valve is hard to get to. I used the vaccum tube. and it worked great. remember to pour slow. and let sit for approx 20 min. You will definately smoke a lot after you restart the engine. But I recommend using seafoam when you have 1000 to 750km left before oil change. there wil be a lot of sludge.

Does that mean I should also only use Sea Foam in my gas tank just before an oil change? or only when pouring into crank case?.Thanks.

I hate to link to another site since I am new here and I don't know the rules, but I have some links that have all of this info.

In a nutshell, use a concentrated solution in your gas first. When its almost empty, pour a can in and fill about halfway. Run the tank down to almost empty again before refueling.

In your crankcase, pour about 1/3 in about 100 miles before you change the oil.

On my 3.0 and 22r, I used the brakebooster line to suck the seafoam in and on my 3.4, I use the pcv. If you use the brakebooster on the 3.4, you won't hit all the cylinders.
Anyway, start the engine, disconnect the line you want to use. Have the appropriate amount of seafoam ready in shallow container, like the cap of a spray can or lid from some other container. Dip the hose into the solution and let it suck out the seafoam. If the car stalls, start it up and try again. When finished, let the car stall or turn it off and let it sit for 20 minutes to an hour.
Start it up, and rev it up and it will smoke. You can drive it around, but you will be leaving smoke screen behind you.
I have had excellent results on all 3 engines.

Reviving an older thread here. Sidney, did you ever try the seafoam? I just purchaced some at Autozone and am about to try it. Thought I would ask how your experience went first though.

I only used it in the gasoline because I have a missing under load at highway speeds and after using it I still have same problem so injectors must not of been dirty to begin with.I have not yet used it in the intake or engine oil as I still have about 3000 KM to go before next oil change. But many people had great results.

i have a 94 3.0 and was wondering where a good vacuum line to use and have suck the seafoam into the crankcase would be at. i am learning my way around this engine so i might need some extra descriptions.

A previous post mentioned using the brakeboost hose. I am going to use that to do mine. I have heard that you want to let it suck it up slowly as I remember reading a while back about someone hydrolocking by sucking it all up at once. It may have been someone talking out thier a$$ but being careful takes no extra work. I will post later about how it goes.

I tried it this morning, no problems sucking it through the brake booster hose. Let it sit for about 10 mins. Started up fine, ran it for a few mins. Smoked a bit but not as much as I expected it to. Went for a drive home to shovell snow again (did it for an hour before coming to work this morning). Uttered a few polite words of thanks for the city plow guy that managed to move all the snow from our street into my driveway. :xnuts:

On the trip back to work I thought I had stalled it at the lights, it was running so smoothly I was really shocked, seemed to pull a lot better in 3rd also. Put some in the crankcase and some in the fuel tank too so I will have to see what the future holds, changing the oil on the weekend.

the big hose that plugs into the brake booster :D
Pop it off at the booster. I put the seafoam in a roll up the rim Timmies cup (I get to play again... woohoo... Canadian inside joke there) suck it from the cup. Works easily that way.
