Seatbelt chime disabler

I don't know about the new 4runners but my 98 has a wire underneath the drivers seat that just needs to be unplugged. That takes care of the whole situation. Also, if this doesn't work, before hacking into the dash you could just connect the wires running to the seatbelt receiver (next to the seat) which should make the system think the buckle is always inserted and connected. Has anybody tried it?

Does the buzzer ever make a useful noise? I don't care about seat belt or door open alarms.

Keys left in ignition- and the most useful IMO- it beeps once upon exit to alert you the sunroof is popped, or open. Has already saved me from an unwanted interior wash a few times.

Think I may look into turning off the hatch alarm with a switch though. It gets on my nerves every freakin' time I'm backing my boat down the launching ramp...

no, no it doesnt:ybrick: its like Chinese water torture.

Mine shuts off after 30 seconds or so.....both passenger side and the driver side. I haul stuff in the passenger seat all the time and it doesn't start beeping until I hit about 10-15 mph and always shuts off after about 30 seconds.

I just bought that knock off Tech Stream cable and software. Will kill the chime on my Crew Max, TE Runner and a Camry we picked up last week. Screw the dealer, doing it myself.

Guys I just went in to the dealer and asked one of the techs to disable the seat belt chime for me. He said he didn't think he could do it. I told him sure he could just grab the computer and make the very few adjustments needed. I told him the forums were talking about how easy it was to correct. I told him it was an option not a safety issue because the seat belt light still blinks.

He agreed and got the laptop and made the change. He asked" while I'm in here is there any other options you want?" Then spun the screen around to see the factory options.

So I have:

1)Auto roll down windows on the remote (hold the unlock button and all windows drop including tilt sunroof opens)

2)Auto roll up windows on door key(turn the key to the lock and hold and all windows rise)

3)Auto roll down on door key(turn key to unlock and all windows drop)

4)Rear window will continue to roll up/down if half way(the window will finish rolling up or down depending on the direction your rolling up or down)

5)Seat belt chime disabled

He told me not to worry about the charge it was a slow day! WOOT! :banana: Freebee

My dealer did most of the above but charged me about $30-40 bucks--the seatbelt chime was the thing I fixed wanted the most. Nobody had ever asked them to change preferences. I showed them the manual and mentioned that I learned about it on this forum. They didn't hesitate on the seatbelt chime/light or site a policy.
