I think the cultural/political split between east and west PNW is greater than the difference between northern and southern California.
yes. it is.

seattle, and the west side of the mtns is only a small fraction of Washington.
yet, most people equate seattle with ALL of Washington.
this state needs split, western Washington, and everything else.
That's a joke, right?
And, by the way, if you're thinking about breaking states in parts, the SoCal and NoCal are first in line![]()

I love that.
"Look at all the taxes that we're charging everybody that you didn't vote for and didn't want, now shut up and take your handouts that you didn't vote for and didn't want and be grateful for them."
Money isn't free, hippie. Go ride your bike in the rain.

So, you want to split WA because you do not agree with its politics? Go ahead, all of Western WA would love to do that and keep our tax $$$ to ourselves.
Remember, the biggest income generator of WA is the Western side. See who generates most of the taxes. Hmm lets see, Microsoft, Amazon, Boeing, and so many tech and aircraft-related companies are all in this side of the mountain. Let's see if the rural eastern Washington can even maintain its roads if you are tend to live on by yourselves. King County (part of western WA, for those who are not familiar) alone generates more tax $ than Idaho or Montana!
Be careful with what you wish for, we in the western side would love your idea of "not spreading the wealth".
Right... and that's largely due to the population distribution.
"I can prove anything by statistics except the truth."
-George Canning (and that's coming from a politician)
I don't get your point.
Seattle is in western Washington! Western Washington's political color is blue. Western WA generates most of the taxes. And the Eastern WA, a republican country, wants the split. My point was, Eastern WA is depending heavily on western WA. It's the rural eastern side getting the handout!
they already have it, there would be no change. The problem with this plan is you'd be giving all the beautiful coastline and the most valuable realestate up to the far left hippies....![]()

You are cracking me up!
I wonder how much of those taxes they spend and squander. People in rural areas are not nearly as dependent upon the government as urbanites. They don't mind unpaved roads, small towns, and paying a little extra to keep their small economy running.

Yes, Comrade. There's no way all those poor farmers could possibly take care of themselves, they have to have you taking care of them or they'd surely starve.
You're very noble. I know they appreciate it. I can tell, because they keep voting to raise taxes so you can give them more handouts.
oh if we split, we get to keep our crops, and food?
even better. the west side would shrivel up and die.
When the statistics are against you, all of a sudden they don't matter!
Where in that that said "population"? It say's for every dollar these counties pay in tax $, how much does it get from the general state fund!
Here is another statistics to educate you better. See who is on "welfare afterall, red counties or blue counties?
No problem, keep your wheat and apples to yourselves.
Have your heard of the vast farmlands in Peirce County, the very fertile Skagit Valley, and the beautiful Grays harbor producing much much more produce than Western WA can consume? Keep all you GMO-enriched crops in Eastern WA and we will enjoy our organic produce in Western, WA!
Split WA, heck ya, any day! We pay $1 and we get back $62 cents back from the State in order to support the east. Hmmmm, and I wonder why the hell you in the east are the one complaining! Hmmm...

if it would be so good for you, why are you trying so hard to convince us otherwise?
