Seattle area 4Runner Meet Up anyone?

Met up with [MENTION=114614]BigRyan1986[/MENTION] his lovey wife, friends and dog [MENTION=115127]BtownB[/MENTION] and his best bud [MENTION=79556]Matteblack[/MENTION] and his lovely, awesome wine/beer drinking, fancy shoe for wheelin wearin wife [MENTION=78498]4Runner4TW[/MENTION] [MENTION=107389]Special-k[/MENTION] for some “easy” off-roading at Tahuya. This was really a great group to have gone out with. I could not be happier with the turn out. Got to enjoy beers with all (special thanks to [MENTION=115127]BtownB[/MENTION] for being prepared) at the ORV, and a few more with [MENTION=79556]Matteblack[/MENTION] and [MENTION=78498]4Runner4TW[/MENTION] on the ferry ride home.

When I selected this place for our meet it was based on two key facts: Stock Friendly and Paint Friendly. I don’t think any of the 5th Gen guys think it was “Paint Friendly”, though not worse than any Fire Service road I’ve been on.

It is truly a Stock Friendly ORV. Everyone that was waiting on his new tires and could not make it in time for this meet- not necessary. One of two 4Runners I was most impressed with was [MENTION=115127]BtownB[/MENTION]. He has a stock 4Runner with the exception of the “rear breather mod”. That’s a stock suspension and factory stock tires. He made it through all terrain, albeit with the use of the rear locker. This stock rig performed amazingly and left all of us extremely impressed. Really should help one feel confident in how these truck preform out of the factory with stock tires. Hill climb, hill decent, lots of mud, loose rock, water crossings, moguls, it took on them all.

The other 4Runner I was impressed with, or at least the ability of its driver was [MENTION=114614]BigRyan1986[/MENTION]. His manual, no rear locker 2gen, which appeared to not have much of a lift on it, kept up with all the big boys just fine and cleared some areas where the 5th Gen guys would damn near bottom out. Impressive driving, I wish I took video of the last hill climb.

Now this was a cluster. We were stuck here for a good 25minutes. 13 impressive jeeps, one not and a stock Ford Ranger were coming the other way on this trail and with the 6 of us, the lead Jeep guy had to get creative in parking our 6 rigs so the 15 of them could pass. There could not have been a better stop for our two groups to meet on this stretch of the South Loop.

New front suspension should be here in a couple days, then I'll be looking to get out into some trouble again.

We were all taken back and impressed at how well your truck did. Hopefully not too many of us were regretting the 1000s we put in to our suspension and tire setup. Though, I reckon you’ll be investing in some tires. I’m curious to see how those will do during the snow. On the road that is, while they are good, I don’t think they are that good that they could handle snow covered rock and trail stuff.

You’ve got to get the 14’ out and dirty at some point.
What suspension setup are you going with your 3rd gen? Changing out the Bilstein?

Looks like you had just as much fun hunting. Are you going to be making jerky?

All 5th gens scraped our skid, I think all on the transfer case skid, and maybe one or two guys on the gas skid, nothing too bad. One guy did have some aftermarket step running boards… well, lets just say that did not go well. However, they were on and still able to use.

I have heard of this place before i think it sounds fun and i didn't realize until just now when i looked at the page a second time that close to my house. The mud bog is only open at certain times to the public and its on private land. I'm going to youtube it and check it out but i'm down to try it out for the next trip.
