I am pretty sure you could borrow mine for the trip if you have a way to mount it? I think I could stay home for a few days. =p

Nice, thanks. I did not know you had one... I was thinking I could mont one to my factory rack. I've seen people on here do that with their 5th gens no problem. If I go through with getting a baja or gobi or similar, I don't think I'll be able to fit in my garage at work- sadly.
I'm not opposed to sleeping my big ass in the back of my truck on my air mattress, has served me well for many a year. The RTT just seems cool and convenient.
You two should go to the FJ Summit, too. Have you been or considered in the past?
I'll have to link up with y'all for the NW Overland Rally, though; that's good to hear. My buddy who was going to go with me just realized he'll be out of town camping in Yellowstone that week. I'll be at the NWOLR for sure. You should get a RTT so you can park with the cool kids. I wouldn't use your factory bars though, that is my opinion. You could get some Thule crossbars if you didn't want to shell out for a platform. I would love to go to the FJ Summit, but I don't have free time between now and then.

I don't have the tent... yet. I'll be picking it up on the 21st when I am in Bend =). I kinda like sleeping in the back of my 4Runner when I am alone, but with my wife it's just a bit cramped... I think the RTT will be a big improvement.
The FJ Summit sounds/looks freaking awesome, but at 2400 miles round trip it's a bit more than I can stomach for a couple of days of fun. Wish it were closer =(

I think that's the setup I've seen before. I'll give that a go. I did not mean the factory crossbars, just the rails. Would you not use the factory rails?
The proximity to the PNW is less than desirable. 18-20 hour drive... Not too bad, I use to drive the 24hours from MN to Seattle every year and would only stop for a quick 1-2 hour nap in northern ID. I need to start putting miles on my 4Runner. I have the warranty until 125k miles and I've only got 43k miles on it. I figure with my work schedule I' can take 40hours of leave and have 9 days off to get there, enjoy the summit, swing by Moab for two days and get back to Seattle for work with a day to relax (I'll probably take another day or two off).
If I do end up buying a RTT I will drive down to CVT and pick it up, too. Seems silly to be so close and pay for shipping. Unless shipping is less than it would cost to get down there.

Hey all,
My buddy and I are planning to go out on Presidents Day.
Date: Monday, 16 FEB 2015
Time: TBD based on location
Location: TBD Tahuya? Elbe? Capital Forest? Stampede? Tinkham Rd? I have a call out to the Rangers in Cle Elum. Hopefully they get back to me and report on the actual conditions of the Salmon La Sac trail. Any other ideas???
Sorry for the lack of a location as I'm sure that will factor in to the decision of some. I'm thinking Tahuya will be the safe bet, guaranteed place to have fun.
