Seattle Area Maintenance and Meet

Hey apperciate the help but i think im gonna wait a bit and buy complete coil overs instead of going with spacers... Was trying to do it cheap but i dont think its what i want. As for naches i dont think i could do it... Need better tires lift winch and right now thats just not happing. what about a little drive up some forest roads here soon...
 
August is definitely more likely for me. My work has been a bit nuts (any free time outside my regular work has been spent renovating). Hoping to free up a bit in June.

Been busy looking for a job and having a kid, so not a lot of time to spend on the runner or the forum...
Had a question though, I recently swapped out my worn out springs for some used (worse than the ones I had but didn't know that till they settled) '99 talls. I can't afford $400 for new springs, would like to just stick with '99 talls. Can I buy a one inch spring spacer to stiffen the springs up, buying me some time?

Figured this is a good thread to ask about sight seeing and lodging in Seattle/Tacoma. I have to go to a wedding in Tacoma (right by Gig harbor) in July and I'm not sure where to stay. We definitely want to check out Seattle and be closer to a city, but I noticed it's about 30 min from Seattle to where the wedding is. We are in the wedding so we will have to visit the location a bunch. Also is it possible to get around without a car (myself, Fiance and 2.5 year old) or is it better to rent a car? Anything I should definitely see while up there? Thanks!

Yes you could purchase a set of spacers. They will only lift your rig, they shouldn't affect the ride quality much.

You will want a rental FOR SURE.

As for where to stay, if you're going to be driving to the site a lot, Seattle is out of the question. It's much longer than a 30 minute drive.

Depending on your budget, there are some decent places in Tacoma. Since I live so close, I have only stayed in a Tacoma hotel once. I chose the Hotel Murano for the occasion. It was pretty nice, much better than I expected, being in Tacoma.

If you decide to stay in Gig Harbor, there are good number of bed and breakfasts there... Could be another option. It would save you from crossing the Narrows bridge 100 times (it's a toll bridge).

As far as things to do/see...

The obvious are:
Pikes Place Market
Space Needle
Seattle Art Museum
The big ferris wheel that Icannot remember the name of.
The Aquarium (you won't be impressed, the 2.5 yr old will like it though.)
Maybe take a ride on, "The Duck" if you're goofy.

In Tacoma there's not a whole lot... DO NOT go to the art/glass museum.

Point Defiance Zoo (and small aquarium)
LeMay car museum (if you're a car person, it's pretty neat)


There is decent food in Tacoma

A few good breweries (that will allow the little one)
Harmon Brewery is very good. They have a sweet fish and chips deal on Sundays.
The Ram on Ruston is pretty neat. It has Washington's tallest bar, and waterfront seating.
Stanley and Seaforts is awesome if you want a NICE meal. Make sure to eat there at night though. The view from it's hill top location is beautiful. Probably not the best place for a kid though. Good wine selection, great steaks, nice place.
The Pacific Grill is VERY good if you can ditch the little on for a night, treat your lady to a nice dinner. Very solid Happy Hour as well. It's a nice place, but not as nice as Stanley's,
The Social is a good place... Sweet Potato Fries to die for.
If you're a pizza fan, Farelli's has good wood fire pizza. Also very family friendly.

Another option is Vashon Island. It's a great sleepy little island town just a quick ferry ride from Point Defiance (right in Tacoma). Would be pretty cool to stay there.

How log are you going to be here? July is going to be hit or miss, but if I'm free, I'd be down to grab you in Tacoma and swing you up here for the day.

Wow awesome response. Thank you so much. We are flying in on a Thursday and leaving Monday, but Fri is rehearsal and Sat is the wedding so Sunday we will be recovering but sight seeing. I will definitely check out some of the spots.

I'll be there July 18-22. That would be cool if you're around but I know how things get in the summer. My fiancé really wants to check out Seattle so we might stay there but I'm not sure. Thanks for the response!
 
I'm here. That weekend i'm gonna be scouting the spokane/couer d'alene area for a place... I'm heading east.


Oh BTW I saw a lifted black T4R with projectors and a sport hood on I-5 near lake city way Saturday and waved. Was that you?

Nope - wasn't me.... hmmm, wonder who it was? I've currently got the engine all ripped apart fixing a broken knock sensor wire harness, and doing all the valve seals. I'm hopin to have it back together by this weekend
