Seattle Area Maintenance and Meet

For those in the PNW, how do our vehicles do in snow, on pavement (the passes), with BFG ATs or similar? I have 99 with AWD and 4WD modes. I am wondering if I should carry cable chains or not.

I'll be headed up to like Stevens, Snoqualmi pass, etc.

I've been driving a vehicle with a sophisticated traction control system and winter tires, so I haven't had to worry about keeping a vehicle on pavement for maybe 10 years now. I just don't want to f up my 4runner and havnet driven on ATs before.

I had bfg A/T's on my drive from NC to here and had to drive through white out conditions in CO and it did just fine. I was pulling a 6' x 12' trailer though. That CO wind was rediculous though. I was literally being pushed across the road as I drove down it. I made the drive completely stock too.
 
I love my AT's in the snow. I think the important thing to remember here is that while they are more than capable off road, they are an SUV with a high (and with all the people lifted, higher) center of gravity. Don't get cocky and think you're driving an STI with studded tires.
 
Truck is fixed...

Ok so the truck is fixed finally. I started it up today after almost 3 weeks or longer of it sitting in my garage. I got the head gasket replaced and it started up first try.. I didn't replace the exhaust manifold gaskets and they were pretty beat up so I think I got an exhaust leak but other than that all is well and the runner is back in comission. Just got to put on the new parts I ordered (cv's, upper and lower ball joints, sway bar and steering rack bushings all the way around) and re-wire my electric fans and I'll be set. Anyone else got some work to do say next week ish?

oh yeah i got a mirror too, just havent put it on, i dont think i will till after winter, it would be just my luck it put it on and then some idiot would hit me and smash my new one. but thank you once again. also did you get end caps from that guy too or just the mirror?

they should be in the box i chucked them in there loose so you may have to dump out the popcorn stuff to find them

Nice! I'm around next week except for Tuesday. I do have this UBJ boot that needs replacing...

Ok, Ill text you next week sometime. I have some appointments next week but I have to find out exactly when though. I'll let you know. If I get the parts sooner I may do a few of them but I do have more junk to do. the big one is the dual battery set up I have been talking about doing for way to long now...
 
Im with Alex on the diff breather, also need to put on my extended rear brake line.

Joined the 200k club on thanksgiving, dont die on me now!
