so how did you guys mount it on the 4runners?

how many people did it take to lift?

just curious to see how much help id have to call in.

i just helped my neighbor take his off, also helped him put it on, on Thursday. id say you need at least 2 people, so call a friend or two to come help you should be pretty easy. -my neighbors rig is a full size chevy with a 6" lift and we can do it with two guy.

Are there some people who haven't received an invoice or communication from Tepui? I see a lot of "paids" on page one.

I haven't received my invoice yet. I ordered the awning with awning extension. Im in no hurry though. I'm still waiting on my gobi:sobbing:

.. It was me and my wife .... We lifted it up as high as possible and I just went underneath and carried on my back.. Then pressed it up over my shoulders while the wife guided it from tipping over ... Probably should have had another man help out and I probably either could have broken my back or put some scratches on my vehicle ... Made sure to put the cardboard from shipment over the top of vehicle to help with sliding the tent onto it ... Not the most economical way but it worked lol...

Just a note - We have green on black ruggedized models now and all Kukenam and Autana models now come stock as a Sky tent.

I am not Evan, but I can answer this question.

All Ruggedized versions are NOT "sky". Only the Kukenam and Autana, regulars, are sky'ed.

Some models were not in stock and members decided to wait until their preferred models to come in, instead of picking something else. They won't get an invoice until their model come in.

Here you all go .... It's on factory racks, zero issues with it... The tent is freaking awesome.... Here's the bad: a lot of people will stop and want to see the tent, if you're a private person you might want to find some where secluded to camp ...

So how was sleeping in it? Is the mattress adequate? Is it difficult to get it level with the ladder? Condensation?

The mattress was surprisingly comfortable... I had 5 sleeping in the autana, myself including wife and 3 kids (ages 1.5, 3, and 6)... the tent will fold out level automatically, it has some type of stopping mechanism.. The ladder is just there for climbing and help with more leverage if the tent needs it(unless Im doing something wrong).... I did not notice any condensation in the inside, but to paint a clearer picture, it did rain hard for about an hour early morning before we woke up, the tent took it like a champ and there was no water in the inside or any leaks... I even left the windows open during the rainfall, not a drip got in. Oh and uhh, i figure I add this also: when you have to piss, it would be great if you had a rack because you can just open the window and stand on the rack and go at it, I had to figure out a way to stand on my knees in the tent, aim out the window and piss, because I was not about to go down the ladder and do it.... my gobi comes in tomorrow! So I will post more updated pics when it comes in to see how it looks with the rack....

Nice man. Can't wait to get mine. Should be next month sometime. Are there any windows you can walk out of onto the front or rear of the rack?

Well this sucks. Tepui just emailed me and said they won't be manufacturing the Autana in Siberian Camo. Guess that's why I haven't gotten a invoice.

First Time in New RTT

Last weekend, I took my 4runner for camping and trail offroading with my new RTT on the top. I am sharing some pictures and thoughts with you guys.

1. Air Resistance, handling & MPGs. It is mounted on custom roof rack (unistrut) and sits pretty close to roof of truck. No issue in driving at 65-70 mph. No significant noise issue and also there was no significant change in MPGs. I did my first trail run so I can't compare with or without rtt but for me there was no issue for handling on road or offroad. (I was alone so I think extra weight was good...Just my thought)

2. Water Proof. It rained on both nights Friday and Saturday. I was all dry on both days. Second night was cold so I didn't open any window just the main entrance. So, in morning the walls were little wet but mattress was all dry. Closed it wet after first night and inside was dry on opening on second night.

3. Setup. It was was pretty straight forward. No issue in opening the tent.

4. Cover. Black cover looks awesome and is also very durable. Hit lot of tree branches during trail run, noticed some minor scratches and that's it.

Concerns

1. Rain water collected in area which extend to add annex.
2. Still trying to figure out how the ladder works... It feels like spring instead of ladder adjusting itself to fit in place.
3. Moving cover in its rails is not smooth. So, removing it to add annex will be not easy but I didn't try it.
4. Closing was bit difficult as lot of stuff hang out on closing and you need to put that in before closing clips and putting cover back on.
5. U shape extension pole for annex is kind of hard to pull and put back in place.
6. Once opened tent feels really stretched in lower corners!!!

Suggestions
1. find level surface to park your truck to have better sleep.
2. Try to avoid parking under trees or the one I parked under. Mine was parked under a tree and next morning I noticed some greens spots on tent. It can be cleaned but give me tuff time to clean.
3. Ask someone to help during closing. So, it can stay little open while you or someone put the tent walls and related staff inside before fully closing the tent.

Finally, If you can let me know how you are adjusting your ladder so it doesn't feel like spring or if I am not opening the tent correctly???

[MENTION=117698]Moto69Joe[/MENTION]. it is Autana Ruggedized. Overall, I liked it and material is heavy. Initially, I was interested in green version but due to unavailability of green in june I went with gray. I like gray now more... go well with my blue truck.

Also on the ladder, if you collapse it in the middle or near the top instead of the bottom that helps with all the free play it gives... And if you have an autana, be careful with the bar that pulls out and holds the opening up, it's screwed to some plastic and not very strong , other than that I love the tent
