Hey guys, next month my wife and I are going up to Sedona for our anniversary. Last year we did a HumVee tour, but now that my truck is lifted and ready for some offroading, do you guys know of any trails that would be fun to do by ourselves?
I know several other members also have this book and recommend it for several states. There are separate editions for Utah, California, and Colorado.
This book lists 6 separate trails around Sedona.
Schnebly Hill Road - Easy
Soldier Pass - Difficult
Van Deren Cabin - Moderate
Greasy Spoon - Difficult
Oak Creek Homestead - Moderate
Broken Arrow - Difficult
The scenery and views of the red rocks in Sedona are spectacular at Broken Arrow. I posted some pictures earlier today from a trip this past weekend. I also take my family on this trail, as it isn't TOO overwhelming for wife + kids. This might have been where you took a Pink Jeep/HumVee tour. They are all over the trail every time I've been.
So went to Sedona this weekend, was there Friday through Monday. I ended up going on the Oak Creek Homestead trail. So this is rated at a 2.5, that's a negative. This was easily a 3.0-3.5 rated trail, I ended up turning around on the stretch of the shelf road that was just about half way to the river. It was getting late and then there was a flash flood warning out for the area and a number of dry river beds that I crossed to get there. I'll post up some pictures of the road later. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics while I was on the shelf road, as I was a bit distracted by not bottoming out and driving off the side of the road.
It was fun though, and now I want to find some local trails to have some fun on!
Video's after coming off the shelf road.
