Selling 06' Sport....baby on way...anyone interested?

Well, I just found out my other half is pregnant. So, I have to sell my 4 week old 06' Sport 4X4 V8. Is anyone interested? I will make a great deal. I have a clear title, so transfer will be easy. It stickered for $36,386. It has the V8 engine, and JBL stereo w/ daytime running lights. Its black and all I have done is put Llumar tint 30% on the front windows. Also, I have changed out fluid to synthetic. It just turned 2,000 miles, so it still has brand new smell. I am non-smoker and have extra set of brand new mats in plastic and rear cargo mat in plastic. It still looks like showroom condition. The first $29,900 will take her home. I am so sad

I think you're being very optimistic about the price you'll end up getting for it. Is it really to your bennifit to take such a loss on the vehicle? Remember, you will need a dependable vehicle for the baby.

Yes, the money is a big part of it. We paid cash for the 4Runner, so we are going to try and get some of it back and buy something cheaper and put back some money for diapers, clothes, etc. This is very unexpected to say the least, but we are excited nevertheless. What do you think is a fair price? It invoices for right at $33,000 and I think there is a $750 rebate right now. So, for my 4 week old Runner with only 2,000 miles, I think $29,900 is very fair. Someone can save $2300 dollars by purchasing mine. It already has tint, synthetic fluid, and a trueflow air filter. Plus, it looks just as good as a non-4 week old 06' on the showroom floor. Sounds like a good deal to me.

LOL, if that were the case, I would be selling the 4Runner, the house, my clothes, and everything else I own . Because, lord knows she would have it all anyway after taking me to court

Congrats on the new baby! I'm sorry you have to part with the one on your driveway. Ironically, my wife and I bought ours BECAUSE we want to have children soon. You've got size, dependability, and more safety features than almost anything in its class. Not to mention the cargo area where you can just toss in strollers, pack and plays, and all the other paraphernalia (sp??) without having to think about it.

Keep in mind that cheaper is not always better. On our previous Camry and 4Runner, the only money we put into repairs was for scheduled maintenance. That's peace of mind for you.

I hope you find a way to keep the 4Runner.

Personally, I would just hold onto the truck. You've already shelled out the money for it, and besides insurance, gas, and normal maintenance, what's it costing you; NOTHING?! I could understand if you were paying $400-600/month on the thing, but it's paid for.

Over the next 8-9 months, you can just budget yourself to keep setting aside money and then you'll be set. You have a perfectly good reliable vehicle that will make one less thing to worry about once your child arrives.

Jumping the gun a little, aren't we? Just my 2 cents, but you've already paid for it. Just rathole as much money as you can over the next 8-9 months. We see people doing this all the time at the dealership; trading or selling high dollar cars because they think they're going to need all this money. Then, once they've spent the money they got back on the vehicle, they're back in here because they bought a lower priced, older vehicle that they're not happy with and end up sticking it to themselves again with something they used to be accustomed to.

You all have made some very good points. We are talking it over currently, and may decide to keep it afterall. I will keep you all updated. I must admit, I love the 4Runner and will do everything I can do convince her to let me keep it. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement. You all are awesome

A week too late, I would have headed out to Ohio to pick it up. I got mine on Wednesday night. I say take out a small loan for the $$ you need.

I say keep the 4Runner. Like what others already have said you can always get a loan for the extra $$ you need and a lot can happen in nine months time. I would reconsider keeping such a well built and reliable vehicle especially when you are going to have bring your precious new baby home from the hospital for the first time (especially in SE style). It pays to drive a well handling, strong, and reliable Tahara built tank.

You won't be on your own either. I'm sure you will have tons of stuff from baby showers, gifts, family, etc. Your whole family and friends will be looking out for you and your wife. I have two daughters and when my youngest was born we couldn't get enough gifts. We still have diapers and other stuff brand new and she doesn't even fit into them anymore. The only thing that will suck are the sleepless nights and tons of baby formula you have to buy. You're also going to be needing a reliable vehicle to shuffle back and forth to those monthly pediatrician appointments for the first several months too.

It's interesting because my new baby daughter was the sole reason I bought my (or rather her) new 4Runner back in September this year. I needed to replace my wife's POS '90 Nissan Sentra with something better and more reliable. My decision on getting the Runner was absolute after driving everyone else's and liking it. I know everyone's financial situations vary greatly, but since you do own the vehicle outright you won't need to make payments anymore (other than insurance, gas, maintenance). At the risk of sounding cliche though, you can't really put a price on peace of mind and the joy of owning a 4Runner (especially an SE). I wish I could get an SE but we needed the 3rd row option for the younglings and relatives. Just think about it, you are going to have extra precious cargo in nine months, and the 4Runner makes a great off-road capable baby carriage. Ok, sorry to get slightly off-topic. I'm going to catch up on sleep now (it's a lot of working when they start walking).

many have made a strong case for you to no sell the vehicle. and i agree w/ them.

as far as baby friendly wise, i do believe a minivan is better. we also have an odyssey '04. have used both my 4r and the ody, the diff is obvious. ody is easier to get on and off, due to it's lower clearance and big wide sliding door. another thing is it's really nice that mom can roam inside the ody to get baby stuff, instead of being restricted to the seat in an suv.

i am not suggesting u getting an minivan, obviously. 4runner will do fine. for us, the cost of the '04 ody exl (leather) is about $2000 less than the '05 4runner (but runner has 0 financing for 3 years). only thing i wish the ody'd was AWD opt as it couldnt make it up the short steep driveway to the garage after some snow - even after the driveway is plowed.

I currently have one 2 year old and am now expecting twins...the decision is mine and it is up to me if we can fit 3 in the back. Since my car is fairly new, I am gonna try my best to keep the 4runner. This car has done so much for me.
