separate hub from rotor

90 4Runner 4x4: Replacing front brake and suspension components, removed the hub and found the rotor will need to be replaced. The 6 bolts that hold them together have been removed, without using excessive force I tried using a pry bar with no luck. I thought before resorting to 'big bertha' my 16 lb sledge hammer, and possibily damaging the hub I best check and ask if any member(s) are familiar and can advise whether I missed a step, and/or, is the rotor pressed onto the hub. Any input, suggestions appreciated.

It's not pressed, it just has 20+ years of stuck on it! Spray it down with some WD-40 or whatever penetrating oil you have and let it sit for a few minutes. Then beat on it a bit with a heavy rubber mallet or a dead blow hammer. If that doesn't work you can put it in a vise on the rotor side and use a pry bar in-between the two evenly on both sides.

Appreciate the info, went and gave both hubs/rotors a good dose of Sili Kroil and I'll let them set over night.

You're not going to hurt that hub. Get a friend to hold a large cold chisel, and give it a couple friendly taps with that 16lb persuader of yours.

Used the pry bar and worked it around the hub and with very little effort they separated.

Before you reassemble the new rotors on the hub, use a wire brush or some coarse grit sand paper and clean the hub a little to make them easier to reassemble and disassemble again in the future.

Used 'Marine Klean'; love the stuff, and scrubbed the hub thoroughly with a stiff wire brush before installing the rotor, boths sides slipped right on with no problem. Thanks for the headsup though.
