Service Question - Dos and Don'ts - Plugs and Not Wires?

Hi Guys,

I have a question about the 90K service. I am trying to do my due diligence. I've read what others posted on the boards here and would like an opinion.

I spoke to the dealership today. Here is what I was told:
Timming Belt + Drive Belt + The Other Belt (forgot name) + Water Pump + Seals + Coolant Flush + Spark Plugs + Powersteering flush + W-S Transmission Fluid Flush = $1900 plus tax.

I noticed guys on the boards talked about a differential flush... do I need that?
Service guy said I only need new spark plugs but not new spark plug wires because they're coils? Is that true?

He priced everything individually and came up with $1900... isn't that kinda high? I know I need the timing belt and the water pump done, but what else should I make sure gets done?

From what I can tell, my 4runner runs perfectly fine. I get oil changes at every 3000 miles. I replace my air filter every other oil change. I rotate my tires every 2 to 3 oil changes. I've changed tires once and front brakes once. Thats pretty much it since I've purchased my truck.

I do want work done on my 4runner. Upkeep is important and I'm not trying to be cheap. I just don't want to be taken advantage of by my dealer. I'm hoping thats where my T4R community comes it. Being that I'm not much of a "car guy, any opinions and/or suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

find out the other belt they are quoting youi, you have a over 600 in parts alone for the job, are they charging you for each job? most places when you get into that much work dont charge you on drive belt, timing belt install (since they need to come off to do the water pump, now they can if they want), adding coolant(since your doing a flush) and depending on where you live we would need to know you labor rate. nothing wrong with getting a dif flush, just if you use the toyota gear oil be preparred to take a hit i think it run like $70+ a quart, we use wynns gear oil at the shop at about 28 and some change.

also what seals are they replacing? that water pump i belive requires two seals to replace, but do you mean oil pump seal, rear main seal....

That service cost me $1500...just had it done, and they replaced the water-pump (per my request). They also sprayed coolant all over my engine, thank you Toyota!
