Setting up Aux?

I found that in the center console of the car, there is an aux input right next to the power outlet. What would i have to do to connect that input to my head unit. I have an older Alpine model.

PS-If any of this doesn't make sense I can clarify if needed. Not really a big car guy, so I'm not sure if any more info is needed. Thanks in advance.

If the aux is OEM and your stereo isn't there is probably nothing you can do to connect it, although if your stereo has an aux input there may be a way to splice the input into an RCA cable which could plug in the back.

Based on your post though ("not really a car guy") I'm not sure that's something you would want to try.

You can get all the adapters necessary here:

Car Stereo Auxilliary Music Inputs - Add music to your car stereo | aux plug | bluetooth aux adapter | Aux in Adapter | auxiliary input | aux to usb Connects2 and Isimple

All the Alpines I have seen can add an aux input connected to the CD deck input on the back. What you need will depend on exactly what Alpine you have and how that stock jack connects. If you can't figure it out, post your model number and I'll see if I can help you. I've done aux inputs on several Alpines including the six-year old in my 4Runner, but I've never tried to hook into the stock Toyota jack (my rig doesn't have one.). I doubt it would be too difficult, but might involve some soldering or at least crimping. Depends on your skill level.
