Shallow mount 2 ohm replacement subwoofer

Has anyone tried replacing the factory jbl sub with an aftermaket shallow mount sub? If so can you tell me what brand, your likes and dislikes, and would you do it again. My sub just blew and I'm thinking about doing this. I will be using the factory amp to power the sub and maybe installing an external amp later on. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

I used a Kicker Comp RT in my JBL box, fit like a glove. It doesn't sound bad, definitely better than the stock subwoofer. I am used to 12's so it's a small adjustment. Only thing is I used a KX400.1 amp so I don't know what you should expect off of the stock amp. I would do it again, but I would probably try the Comp R and see if I could make it fit.

I used the Rockford Fosgate P3SD2‑8. I've recommended this one in the past and I think those that have gone with it are satisfied with respect to ease of installation and sound production with the factory amp.

Do a search and you will find good info on here about replacing the subwoofer. Hint, label the wires before you cut the factory clips off so you know where they go on the new speaker. If you look carefully at the plugs/clips, you will see molded in the plastic which wire is positive and negative.

Perfect, any tips on disassembly to get to the woofer? I watch the YouTube vid on it and it seems that this is the most extensive part.
