Why does everyone hate those? First, there is a easy fix (99+ center console mod). No need to buy the 3D printer stuff when an OEM cup holder will do just fine. Second I love them. I have a 5speed and the drinks that sit in my center console mod are in the way. The in dash holders are fine. Maybe not the greatest invention but they are usable. Just not offroad

Just don't go over a speed bump with a tallboy in the stock cup holder. learned that one the hard way... (It was an Arnold palmer).

If you're willing to pay over a hundred for one cupholder, I recommend one of these if they still make them.

Just make yourself one of these. Cost me about $15 and some creativity. Ive been using my home brewed cup holder for almost 3 years now and it works flawlessly. I used a slab of aluminum, a section of pvc, a tiny hinge, some nuts and screws, a few rubber spacers, an elastic band from an old jacket, and some black pant.

The first gen Tacoma cup holders are clever, but flimsy. The little tab that stops the slidey one is easy to break and the whole assembly has a hard time with bigger drinks. Having had a '98 taco and now a '01 t4r, I can say the '99+ center console design is much better.
