Been researching racks for awhile, finally stumbled on this one today. Totally missed the March sale, but ordered a Matterhorn full rack just now! Hopefully it won't take too long to get made and shipped.
I love this half rack!!! I know this is prob a stupid question but would it be possible to safely tie down coolers to the rack? I see a lot of tents but I wonder about putting a couple of yeti coolers up there.
Fantastic work Alex, all while in school too! Hope finals treated you well...
The extra 9" and a 5th slat is appealing to me. Looking at RTT tents now also, possibly this one:

At 80" front/back length, probably best to get your full size rack! I'll do more research...

this looks plenty sufficient for a RTT. what about the light bar option like you have pictured? which one would order to go with that?
I love the half extended version! nice work
Coolers would mount easily using ratchet straps and the tie down points on the side rails. Someone has even made custom mounts for their front runner box's that turned out really cool. Either option would be great, ratchet straps are the most versatile and cheap method.
We don't powder coat our own. We all use generic Rustoleum Spray Paint, we found the light texture after a few coats of primer works great. I would guess anywhere from $50-$100 but im not to sure. Some people have had theirs done so maybe someone could add their own insight.

You could easily add an awning. It's 60" long but any size awning would mount I'm sure.what about adding an awning to the half rack, is there enough room to mount one to it?
Excited to get it out to you this week!Just ordered the Antero Ext!
I'm running a 4xInnovations rear bumper.Off topic, but what Rear bumper are you rocking?

Thanks man!The Antero looks awesome!
Awesome to hear man!So glad I found this. I have a check coming and will be ordering this next week
Half rack mounts an rtt totally fine. Sale runs till the end of the day Thursday.Alex, to confirm, the sale is until the end of this or next week?
Looks like it worn't work with that RTT, per that manufacturer. Contemplating a short trailer with RTT now, but I'd still want a 1/2 rack on top of the 4Runner.
Yes, that is the EXTso to confirm, the one in this pic is the EXT version.

The iKamper skycamp mounts the same as any other roof top tent.
Here is a pic I received from a friend with an iKamper skycamp on his homemade rack (hence the wood lol) that is very similar to this one. This is the same way that other roof top tents will mount to this Rocky Mountain Rack.
TLDR = This rack will be fine your tent

Jim, thanks for chiming-in, with an actual example involving a Skycamp too.
TBH, I was a bit shocked when I was told that it would not work. I reached-out to them to inquire if the surface area of the Antero might be problematic (too much overhang possibly)... At nearly 80" long for the Skycamp, even with the extended Antero, we're talking about 30".
I can see the concern without having enough space under the rack to fasten it. Some wood slats, acting as spacers should do the trick, I would think...
Regardless, I'm pretty sure I'll want to go the small utility trailer route for our camping adventures. When I'm out venturing alone, I'll be just fine with the space afforded within and on top of the 4Runner, and maybe even under.
I hope your buddy likes the Skycamp. If there is a thread that I failed to find, kindly direct me. Thanks again Jim.
