New Product: Matterhorn MKII
We are excited to finally announce the release of the all new Matterhorn MKII. An all new design for the rack that started it all. During the design process we sat down and identified a few areas that really needed some attention. While they are all mostly cosmetic, we felt it was best to bring the Matterhorn in line with our other products. Since we first released the original Matterhorn we have worked hard to increase the build quality of our racks and we felt that the Matterhorn had somewhat been forgotten. So, whats new?
Updated Side Plate Profile:
When designing the first rack our number one priority was having something thin and sleek. Our tools at the time consisted of cardboard and a Sharpie, which made getting a side plate that was accurate down to 1/32" a little challenging. The new profile matches the curve of the vehicle perfectly and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. The side plate remains just far enough off of the roof to account for the movement in the roof of the 3rd gen 4runner. This is a Toyota design that many manufacturers have fought from day one.
Updated Front Fairing
The front wind fairing has also been reshaped to work with the new side plates. The fairing now sits a lot closer to the roof and works even better with our new light bar brackets. While the old fairing still works great, this one leaves just a little more room for a slightly larger bar.

New Front Leveling Feet
One element of the rack we have always battled was the front leveling feet. For the last couple of years we have made due with components manufactured by other companies. Battling adhesives, proper surface area, and even rubber densities. We have watched competitors come up with their own take on the front mounts, from 3M adhesive pads stuck to the roof to rivnuts. Nothing really worked and we were ready to finally solve the problem with the proper resources. First we designed an all new adjustable leveling mount and put it to work on our line of topper racks with great results. Then we set to making our own rubber in house that is the perfect density for the roof of your vehicle. The final result is a mount that we can all be stoked about.
This new mount can be used with the original Matterhorn as well and is available as a component on our website.
Additional Crossbars
The new Matterhorn now ships with an additional two crossbars, bringing the total to nine. This provides you with even more space to mount your gear or even leave two of them attached to your RTT all the time. Not to mention they make for a great place to bolt up a couple of Sherpa Smileys.
