They were the first thing I changed. I have the Icon knobs. I love them. They feel good in the hand too.

My apologies, the intent of the photo was not to show off knobs at the time it was taken, but it should suffice.

I just used an FJ knob my guy gave me, screwed it on fit no mods done, did have to back it off a bit to work but no probs so far ?

This on will fit our 5th gen 4Runners, just screw off the stock, and screw on this TRD knob.

Looking around on the web and in this forum, it looks like the tranny shifter threads are M8 x 1.25 and the transfer case shifter threads are M12 x 1.25.

When I first got the vehicle and saw the tranny shift knob I thought that Toyota had somehow gotten into a bin of '57 DeSoto shift knobs, and promptly picked up a cheap plastic AutoZone plastic radial set-screw knob for a temporary fix (that was 3 years ago). Stuck on the 6 speed pattern sticker and pretended I had a MT.

Now looking at the artsy-fartsy, ridiculously expensive, billet / carbon fiber (who needs that?), modern-art, Star Wars crappo that's out there, have decided to pick up a new stock transfer case knob for 30 bucks and use it on the tranny. Will just leave it black and ignore the shift pattern molded into the top (that you can't really see anyways). Have looked all over the web and no one seems to have a M8 x 1.25 inside to M12 x 1.25 outside adapter / helicoil, so plan to just get an M12 x 1.25 set screw, drill and tap M8 x 1.25 threads up the center, and apply.

Don't really need the 4 locking thingies (never seen that before), and $8.59 is sort of steep, but it beats buying the tap drill, the M8 x 1.25 tap, and the set screw, and then spending the time cutting the threads.

I saw somewhere that you can use a john deere ball shifter on these. they are 1/2 in threads, but you would be able to find a helicoil to space it down to M8x1.25

This is very similar to what I'm running,except it has the auto pattern and a toyota transfer case pattern. It's also made by sickspeed.

I've run a 8 ball in the past from other manufactures that required "thread kits" and it wasn't as nice as the sickspeed one I posted above, and since it was a real billiard ball, it doesn't hold up to UV rays that well either (but some people like the patina).
