Shift Knob 2012 I hate it.

Also from https://www.hotrodshiftknob.com

And let it be known that I'm not overly into the super hero thing.... but I honestly couldn't handle the stock knob anymore and I found it funny :p.

I went with the black and red trd pro shift knob, I’m still looking into what to use to finish the bottom of the knob with wether it be the boot or just a fabricated end piece I’m not sure.. i like it much more over the stock and the trd knob from ‘12 which is the same as the one that grantk posted.

I ordered a PTR57-34140 shift knob last night and will be installing this evening. I am excited. I too hate the stock knob. :puke:

Here is mine.

Has anyone freaked out about it yet?
I’ve thought about getting something like this, but in this day and age, i don’t know. Haha

Anyone use an aftermarket leather shift boot? Was wanting to add one with a new knob.

I havnt had anyone say anything yet.
Also as far as mounting I hate the stupid plastic adapters these cheap shifter knobs use, they are unstable and dont work well. So I filled the hole with jb weld, let it dry and harden for a couple days cuz it is thick then drilled and tapped a hole for the M8 threads so it just threaded right onto the shifter. One of them I tried drilling it after just one day and the inside of the jb weld had not fully cured down deep yet so definetly need to give it 2 or 3 days to fully cure before drilling the hole and tapping

I bought a FJ shifter off eBay and cut it to fit the 4Runner. I love the look because is matches the 4WD shift knob.

Anyone want to buy my Trail shifter, send me a PM.

Ok, returned the TRD shift knob. It was poorly finished, creaked, and smelled of perfume. I think Amazon sent me a fake. Ordered a generic and will post pics tomorrow if I decide it's worthy.

Amazon & Pep Boys sells these. Drilled interior of knob to allow
it to sit lower than stock.

I have the Ellis Precision knob set. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Yes. These things are amazing. The single best interior upgrade to date! Pictures do not do these justice!

So what do you think? Feels great. The ball is very heavy. Over 1 lb.

Wow you were right! These are just awesome. Feel great and looks even better...way better than the standard plastic one. This is the standard black for reference.
