Shift knob, Steering wheel and Seat... Did you replace these items?

Hello all,

I have an 07 4runner Limited 4wd (automatic) with 120k miles. There is quite a lot of wear in the seats as they are unsupportive and get quite uncomfortable sitting during long drives. The steering wheel has slowly shown wear and just feels weird to touch. The shift knob is also getting worn and has become soft and a bit sticky.. Kinda yucky...

In anycase...

Has anyone swapped their seats? Or have you opted to reupholster the seat with new leather and foam?

Steering wheel, I have bought a steering wheel cover, but I just don't like how much bigger the steering wheel is. Have you swapped your steering wheel? If so, are there any direct plug and play ones?

Shift knob, seems like there is some misinformation that the automatic has a threading of 8x1.25 or 10x1.25. Does anyone know what it is?

I have the same problem with my "sport" seats in my 4runner. Its not uncommon for me to drive 200+ miles in a day and after owning the truck for the last 20k miles, I have decided that these seats HAVE to go...They're murder on my back after a long day and I find that the bottom part of the seats do not extend far enough forward to fully support my legs:/

Several people have done it. I am currently in the process of collecting parts to do it. I have the seats, a set of (Recaro SRD's) have the Occupancy sensor bypass part for the passenger side airbag on the way, all I need are the seat brackets and Im gonna move forward with the install I plan to go with wedge engineering brackets for my truck as I have a set for my 89 Pathy they made up some years back and they've been great, Not bad for 100 bucks a bracket.

If you can, find seats with sliders as the sliders are like 100 bucks a side as well bringing your costs up significantly.

You will likely need to do some additional mods to deal with the side airbags located in your seats,( I believe 07 and up have side airbags in the seats and curtain airbags standard, but I'm not sure on that one as mine is an 05).

You can replace the steering wheel. Go one ebay and see what they have. Probably around $200. You can get the katskin seats for about $1400 installed. Or you can drop them off at an upholsterer if the cushions need work. Shift knob is an easy swap.
