Shifter lift help!

I put a body lift on my 86 and I need to locate/figure out a way to lift the shifter up. Being that the shifter is lower in the truck, it is not liking going into 2nd and 4th gear. I thought I saw something in a thread somewhere on here but I can't locate it. Thanks all!

That shouldn't interfere if everything is working correctly. If your bushings are loose though that might be requiring you to need more shifter travel than normal?

I had a buddy that had this same problem when he did his body lift. You can either cut and weld in one of those "lifts" or what my buddy did was grind the shifter plate notches for those gears out a little bit to allow the shifter to move forward further and fully engage those gears.

A 3" body lift shouldn't mess up your shifter at all. Like kidv said, you may need to replace your bushings to get rid of the slop in your shifter. Or a short throw kit. Both of which you can get at marlin crawler

A 3" BL certainly will interfere with the shift lever unless you either enlarge the hole in the tunnel or modify the lever, or spring for a short throw shifter ($$).

One thing to try before you do any of that would be to take off the lower rubber shifter boot that mounts to the tunnel and flip it upside down and re-install it. Easy solution that works in some cases.
