I have an automatic (I don't know if there was a 4th gen manual), and I wanted to change the stock faux leather shifter with a better feeling one. How would one go about taking the old one off? I apologize if this is rather basic; I have just not ever had the reason to disassemble one of these before. Thanks in advance!!

Just unscrew it (counterclockwise). If it's tight, you gotta have some muscle. But it just unscrews.

Sorry for the responses, just got back from Europe. I cant believe the knob was that easy to take off! And thanks for the ideas for what knob to buy. I'm on that step now.

yes it fits but will leave about a quater inch of thread because its shorter than the runner shift knob
