I read and reread this several times, even before we picked up the rear end a couple weeks ago. I'm super grateful to anyone who takes the time to document projects like this. I'll definitely be using it as a resource.

We traced the VIN from the junk yard axle and it is from a Limited. Since those only came in automatics, the axle has 4.30 gears.
I called and talked to Shinnydeer about this already. I shared that converting the truck to 4.30's would be beneficial for the oversized tires.

This has to be one of the fastest builds I have seen... EVER!! I mean this is like getting ready for the SEMA show type work.
The rig looks awesome and I am pretty jealous of how well planned and executed your build has been.
Only thing you have left to throw at this thing is a TRD supercharger...:lookout:

Everything looks great. I really like the color matched fenders. I plan on doing mine later this year...and will also be adding a 4X bumper. I've got my wife in on some of the build, but not nearly as much as you! At least she likes to go offroading.
And I can totally feel the "deer" comparisons with your dog. Ours is always being called a deer, and we don't let him out during hunting season!

We're not quite finished, but our build has been fast. Definitely not SEMA-worthy, but thank you for your comments! I think Jeff would be more interested in dropping in a diesel!

Center console lid cover.
Dogs are hard on interiors, so I wanted to make a preemptive strike with our center console lid by covering it with Cordura nylon. I asked if Coverking would allow me to purchase a yard of the same Cordura Ballistic fabric used on their custom seat covers, but they said no, so I ordered the closest thing I could find from Rockywoods.com. It's not a perfect match in color, but since Toyota interiors are a blend of 4 or 5 shades anyway, it doesn't bother me. Besides, the only way I could find to get the exact material Coverking uses is by ordering a 50 yard roll.
The underside of the lid has a plastic cover held on by 8 screws.
I carefully removed the adhered vinyl covering from the outside.
After watching a few YouTube videos, I ended up making this pattern.
I've never attempted upholstery of any kind, but sewing is a great skill that I picked up in college working at a kite shop in Savannah, GA.
This is my first attempt, almost finished, but it ended up being too short on the sides, leaving me no room to wrap.
I modified my pattern and made a second one that fits. Not perfect, but it will protect the lid from Doberman claws.
Here it is installed. OK, so it's not even close to matching. Maybe I'll make a black cover.

Slider update.
We had our 4X Innovations sliders sandblasted and LineX'd last week. We're hoping to get them welded to the frame next Saturday :clap2: but first we have to grind off some of the fresh POR-15. The LineX dealer said to take it slow with the welds so as not to melt the coating.

Awesome! Thanks for the link. BTW, I ordered the ECU for the e-locker. Jeff is working on grinding the rust off the outside of the rear end. Slowly but surely we'll make the swap. I think we're going to put 4:30s up front.

Test fit of CBI rear plate bumper with triangular tire carrier.
Here's the test fit of our CBI rear plate bumper, which I'm super pleased with. The welds on this thing are amazing. It lines up perfectly with our Bushwacker flares, and offers complete armored protection around the entire rear of the vehicle. There are no rattles whatsoever, even on the bumpiest of roads. Awesome. Too bad we have to take it off to paint, but I can't wait to color match it to the body.
