Shipping Runnung Boards. How to do it for cheap?

So I removed my runnning boards and they happen to match my brothers and he wants them. I went to Postal Annex and was quoted $220 for UPS and $200 for FedEx, both ground. I'm shipping from Cali to Georgia. Anyone know where I should go to get this cost down or is this just how much it's going to cost? Thanks for the help.....

Pack the boards yourself, you can stop by any department store (Kmart, Walmart, etc) and ask for a suitable box. You may need to be creative and use more than 1 box.

Then weigh the package and go online to find the prices. UPS and FedEx cost approximately the same. Process the shipment online, print the shipping label and drop off at the Kinko for FedEx or UPS store.

Done.

ur not going to see him for christmas/birthday/etc?? at that rate, prob better for him to drive home for the next visit and throw them in his 4runner...

cuz he could go onto craigslist and get some for less than 200$ if he wanted to get some locally.

or here is an idea... you sell yours locally, send him the money and then he can buy some in Georgia. WAAAAAy cheaper.

Checked online and put in some rough measurements (70x12x15) at around 30lbs. Price from CA to Ga was about $60. Wonder why the guy at Postal Annex quoted $200......

I shipped my running boards for 15 dollars. They were the 06 sport style though. I bought them when I was on home on leave and shipped them across the country where I was living at the time (CA to VA). I bought 2 or 3 rolls of bubble wrap from walmart. I think they come in rolls of 15 ft. I took off the mount rails, because I had the luxory of bringing those with me on the plane. They took off a lot of weight, and if your brother has those, then you might be able to save. I then wrapped each RB in an individual layer of bubble wrap. Taped them together, and THen put remainder strips of bubble wrap around both of them for further cushioning. I'm 99% sure I mailed them prioty but it cost me 15-16 bucks. If your brother needs the rails too, you can probably fit them in 2 flat rate boxes from the USPS. Probably 35 total.
