Shipping Tires to Hawaii

Any Hawaii members experienced shipping a tire to the islands? I got a non-repairable flat on my 245/65/20 Geolanders and no one carriers them here, including Servco Toyota. In fact, Servco buys through Rex Tires and they need to special order them at $426 not including shipping for 1 tire!! WTH!?

I'm using my spare (thank goodness it's the exact same tire) for now, but I'd like to replenish it soon.

I'm not interested in the 275/55/20 option yet, or changing wheels. I don't have the funds to be doing all 4 wheel/tire replacements.

Tire rack ships to Hawaii but it's almost $100 a tire. I said screw that and went to 4 wheel parts in Waipahu. Price was better than Costco. As for geolanders, good luck. I guess not a good idea to change just one tire to another brand. Maybe craigslist 3 and get a set of something else. FYI, Servco owns Rex Tires. The are just double screwing you.

Considering the amount of 4Runners there are in Hawaii, there ought to be at least one tire on the island!? Nope, all the major players don't carry it and it's by special order only. I saw an Ebay ad for a used Geolander for $90 plus shipping, which, may be my best bet, especially since this will be used for a spare.

Hm... I wonder if Costco can special order. Maybe I'll check out 4 Wheel Parts tomorrow also.

Well, after much calling around, there isn't a Geolander in stock, or it's just too damn expensive.

So... gonna try a different approach and let me know if this makes sense to do. I can easily get a Bridgestone Dueler H/T 684II in 245/60/20 from Costco for about $215 within 1-2 weeks. I don't see any problem using this as a spare tire, considering Geolanders are nearly impossible to get here. Just don't want to be caught in a situation where I need a spare tire, and all I have is a rim... Lol.

Sometimes I miss living on the mainland... screw shipping costs to Hawaii. Haha
