Shocks or coils that effect ride??

Hey everyone, I know this has probably been answered elsewhere but I'm a bit confused... I originally thought the ride of my 4runner would be determined by the rear coil I used but then I read it's the shock? I just want to know which is which cause my original plan was to do 890s and bilstein 5100s in the rear but people are saying the 890 is rougher than stock? I just want a good on road ride and a decent performer offroad, any help would be appreciated

It's going to be a bit of both on which determines your ride quality. I am currently running the 890 and I would say it is stiffer than stock, but not by much. I have some weight in the back of mine now though so that softens it up to what I consider an acceptable ride.

I don't have any experience with the Bilstein 5100 shock, but from what I hear it's on the softer side.

From what I understand, it's both. I too am about to put in 890's but with 5125's. Trust me, I was very concerned with finding the right setup, I really didn't want a stiff ride. I've been told by many members that 890's are fine, especially when paired with 5125's/5100's.
If you want, I will let you know what my ride is like after this weekend (front lift was last weekend, rear lift this weekend). But after feeling the nice stiff but smooth ride of the tundra coils with 5100's in front, I have no doubt that 890's with Bilsteins will be the bee's knee's.

That would be great! Man lifts are a pain! I have a feeling I'm gonna go through a few setups before I'm happy haha
