Try the Deck plate Mod and ISR mod

Before paying $$$ on an aftermarket air intake system I would try doing the deck plate mod and ISR mod. Both will cost you less then $40 and I guarantee you will get the same results except when you are mudding you can put the cap back on the deck plate. With a CAI you can't do that.

4runners aren't some rice burners car that should look nice under the hood. These are 4X4 machines nobody is going to come up to you and say "Nice ride can I look under the hood"

So, would simply replacing the resonator path with a length of equal sized aluminum tube - while retaining the stock airbox - offer some noticeable throttle response? Not looking for increased economy or power, just a better pedal. Thoughts?

I added a complete hard pipe and open filter. I felt zero change. It sounds cool. You want throttle response. Install a super charger.

Or just stop hacking up stock airboxes and realize that all the deckplate and ISR mod does is create more noise which leads to wanting to mash the skinny pedal more.

True that. I think my slug of a Pickup had better pickup in first gear just because of the low gear ratios (and I had small tires).
