Shotgun mount.

Hey guys I'm looking to mount my shotgun in the 4runner so it don't just have it thrown in a duffel on the floor. Ideally I'd like to find a mount that I can attach to my 1st gen roll bar. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I actually thought this was a photo of my rack when I found it because it looks so similar to my setup and interior. Mine is just like this, with an AR-15 mounted in the front and an 870 mounted behind.

I've had the same mount for about 9 years (switched from truck to truck). It's held both guns securely, even when going pretty fast over some pretty jarring terrain.

It was pricey, but you'll save money if you already have a roll bar (my truck didn't) and if you don't need the electric lock.

The roll bar mounts are only 6 bucks. Is that all I gotta get? These racks look great how easy is it to get the gun in and out of the rack?

The roll bar mounts are only 6 bucks. Is that all I gotta get? These racks look great how easy is it to get the gun in and out of the rack?

For what you need, I would call Big Sky and ask them. They've been very helpful in the past: I once added a different front mount for my AR to accommodate the light and foregrip. I couldn't find it on their site, so I asked and they provided exactly what I needed).

That said, though, I had never looked at the non-locking sport racks on their site until just now. To be honest, if you already have a roll bar and don't need the lock, I don't see why you couldn't simply make your own rack from what you can find at Home Depot, Menard's, etc. All you'd really need are some C-shaped, flat metal pieces, some foam padding, and a way to attach them to the roll bar. Add a cheap strap or two and you're in business. You might even be able to adapt a traditional back window gun rack. Just need a way to attach it to the roll bar. The bar that big Sky provided for my setup simply has U-bolts on it.

It's very easy to remove the gun. Without the lock, you simply undo the strap and slide it out.

I plan to do some shooting today, so I'll see if I can get a picture of my rack to show you what I mean.

i have a 12 g 18" short barrell. i will warn you tho, ill dominate you in clays.

and i have a glock 19. i go out to the desert all the time and blast rounds. this past weekend i blew through 800 in my glock. walmart had a sale.

Here you go. The bar in the center is what i had to buy from Big Sky because my truck doesn't have a roll bar.

As you can see, the mounts, themselves, are simply held on by U-bolts.

I think I could fab something like that up. I just thought I'd be easier to buy one. Plus I wasn't sure how secure I could get it and with the roads I go on last thing I need is for a shotgun to be bouncing around in the back.
