Should I buy this and for how much?

I havent been on here in a long time- feels good to be back... I sold my 97 in my sig and I am thinking about buying another. The only info I have thus far.1986 4 cyl. 115k miles. manual tranny. passenger front vs deer. the only pics i have to go off of are as follows. The truck is over 200 miles away and I am hoping for more pics soon of interior and under body etc. Now you have the info I have to go off of........how much will fix cost? [/ATTACH]

In my mind, unless you get it for a grand or so then I would turn away. If the front of the body is all tweaked from a deer then you will go through a lot of work to either replace or repair the front clip and it's not really worth it. I would keep looking for a 4runner with a straight body.

Depends on how big the deer was, how fast the guy was going, etc. Could be all you need to do is replace the grill and marker lamp, but if the deer was big enough it might need frame repair.

Knowing exactly what you've told us and nothing more, I'd call that an $800 truck, tops.

^^agreed. If the body/frame is straight I was pondering what it would cost to fix and considering cost to fix what it would be worth. I am drawn in by only 115k on the odometer. I can't see rust on pictures. But I am assuming there is some somewhere. The guy says he doesn't drive it during winters. I guess I should price out grill, bumper, headlight housing, etc.

You can get replacement fender, grille, headlight, etc from a junk yard for under a hundred bucks probably. The bigger concern is what does the core support and inner fender area look like. If it's not straight or if it looks like it will take a lot of work to fix then you may not be able to get it to line up right if you try and bend the metal back yourself. Paying a shop to do anything is way out of the question if you ask me. Don't be drawn in by the mileage, a properly maintained 22re can last a long time and they are super cheap to rebuild.

Based on the pics you gave, you cannot really put a price on it. How well does the engine and drivetrain run, what is the condition of the interior and all the electronics? If it was in average shape then I would guess that it will be worth around $2000 or so, in its current shape then much much less.
