How does that magnet hold the phone? Is it pretty secure?
Dont really want to loose a cup holder.

The sticky metal pads sticks to the back of your phone, phone goes into the phone case and though power of magnetism the phone stays attached to the magnets base which clips into your vents.
Id say its almost as strong as earth magnet strength even through my leather case. Unless you got some bulletproof super thick case that phone is not going anywhere. I love it for simplicity and portability and minimalistic look. Also the WIZGEAR kit comes with 3 sticky pads for 3 different devices or you can cover the whole back side of your phone lol.
I have that same holder. I should try that location. Do you find it being to far up?

[MENTION=126607]strat10[/MENTION], I use the nite ize steelie (the vent mount style) and its very secure and the ease of use is unbeatable. you just slap your phone up there and the magnets hold them without issue.
The only thing i have noticed is that when i have the charger plugged in to the cigarette lighter and to my phone it makes it want to tilt, but i am already thinking about routing a charger wire from the dash power to the spot where i put my phone to alleviate that issue.
I wish i would have bought this mount sooner for sure. I even tried another mount and it just went into a drawer because it was not as simple and effective as the nite ize steelie vent mount. I did have to modify my phone case but it wasnt a big deal for me.

I've actually moved it down to about the center of the windshield since taking that pic. Now I can just barely move my left hand from the wheel and touch the screen if I need to.
I rarely use the phone while driving so I dont need a mount. My wife is addicted to using the Waze nav app on her iphone. I added two strips of self sticking weatherstripping horizontally to the shelf in front of the clock. The phone will ride on its side securely between the two strips (leaning against the ridge above the clock) and cost me nothing as I had the stripping at hand. Worth a shot if you dont want a proper mount.

First Mod - Cell Phone Mount
This was literally the first thing I bought for the 4R. I wanted something low profile but in my line of sight and I hate those window suction cup things. I finally found this magnetic stick on the dash arm. It works with a small metal plate you stick on the back of your cell. I placed it so the phone would also sit on top the stereo console for extra support. This thing is AWESOME! Best $10 spent. Purchased at Best Buy from the car audio section.
