I've posted him here before, but I had to say goodbye to my little friend today. I've spent the last year praying I wouldn't have to make the decision for him, but I couldn't postpone it anymore. Nixon lived a long full life and got to live larger than most dogs his size could ever dream of.

So sorry for your loss, Matt It's never easy to let them go. I'm sure he'll be watching over you until you once meet again :hug:

Tough choice man... I dread this day, I know one day it will happen, and I kinda hope I'm overseas when it come and I don't have to make the call.

I'm so sorry for your loss my friend. You just broke my heart man. As the daddy of a great Yorkie as well as my bully, I'm dreading the day that you just had to face.

Thanks for the kind words PD. I've seen it coming for a couple of weeks and that dulled the blow a little but it's still really hard. He was the first dog that was mine alone and we went through a lot together. No matter what, at the end of the day he was there waiting on me, wagging his little nubby tail and flicking his tongue.

He was 15 and lived an amazing life- he hiked, climbed, swam, caught mice, chased off animals much larger than him, peed on everything he ever walked past, mingled with cute girls at parties, and he never backed down in his efforts to protect and watch over me. I couldn't tell you how many friends and family members completely changed their opinions about small dogs because of him.

Best of luck with yours, cherish them as they cherish you.

So sorry to hear bro, I lost my boy back in December, 10 days before Christmas, it was the single hardest day of my life, and I still have a hard time with it till this day. He loved riding in my 4Runners too

Nixon sounds just like our Louis. As you said, he's definitely changed others as well as my own opinion regarding small dogs.

There's nothing that can match a dogs unconditional love. Cat's could really give two shits about you... That seems to be their personality in my eyes anyway. Reminds me of a joke I once heard:

Man is sitting at work with his buddy and was telling him how his new girlfriend gave him an ultimatum. Her or the dog. His buddy said "that's easy; take them both and lock them in the garage for about 8 hours. Then just pick the one that is happy to see you when you let them out"

Lol. I think I've told that joke on here before, but I love that one. Like they say, they may be just a small yet important part of our world, but to them, we ARE their world.

My 95lb German Shepherd, Jake, testing out his new "step" for trunk entry. With a lifted truck and a large heavy dog prone to hip issues, I prefer he step into and out of the back rather than jumping so I built the step for him, he loves it!
